Min,
If your friend was an elder for 45 years he should have known better, tell him to forget about an appeal to the GB and "wait on J".
If you really like the guy, not only "hope" but do the photocopying i suggested.

Hey Outlaw-
No kidding, the society "trials" make 'Cookoo's Nest' resemble Laurel & Hardy. It's so insane it's funny.

Let's not forget that these guys have been "in the truth" for decades. It's not so easy to clearly see things when the judgment is being applied to you!

To be consistent, if Minimus' mother lost her pioneer privileges for attending an "unequal yoke" wedding, any elder or ms who attended the same should also be removed.
Once "righteous indignition" fuels a Phineas-like circuit overseer led witchhunt, heads must role. The circuit man will also send a one-side synopsis of the whole situation on which the Society will heavily rely in reviewing any appeal situations.
All of this the Pharisees would approve.

Min! When I first joined this forum, my first three topics that I posted was on this very subject. Look it up, there are some good points shared by the other posters from a Watchtower article. Of course the C.O. can over-rule an article with info. that only he is privy to.

All that did was make him beat me worse.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Reading about things like this makes me feel like crying.

Before he left JWs my husband had been sayoing for about 10 years that the quality of CO's was declining. This when he was an elder a fully supportive of the WTS. So I'm thinking that the same is true of elders and MS. By the time I DA'd my Darling Husband was in full support of my decision.
I think Mini's friends should be thankful for her support...otherwise why would they come to her? So the WTS loses another nice guy... and another family may be saved from yet another generation of dub-dumb.

The "rules" are applied anyway the C.O. wants them to be. ............ I've seen this nonsense dozens of times. If they don't like you, they'll stretch any rule to get rid of you.
Ditto. The whole system is open to abuse.
There are so many written rules it is easy to find one to back up any arguement once the guns are out for you. Not only is the secret "Shepherding" book, there are literally dozens of 'letters from the Society to All Bodies of Elders". When I was Secretary, I re-organized and catalogued all these and suprised just how many there were. Whilst all elders have a copy of the Shepherding book, they do not have copies of the letters. Hence, an unsuspecting elder can often find an CO approach him with something from a letter of decades ago that he has never seen.

Min,
Your friends anguish is understandable to all of us here. We all went through it; appeals to Bethel, etc.
As for "waiting on Jehovah"; well, lets hope your friend does not hold his breath while doing that.
We also KNOW the outcome. We have lived it and have survived it.
Your support and encouragement is all you can give him. I am sure he appreciates it. You are several steps ahead of him in this dark tunnel; holding the lantern. The rest he will have to learn by himself; he will come to the same conclusions; just as we did.
