Incense,
What I'm saying is that we tend to think of creatures closer to our type of intelligence as conscious,,like a chimpanzee or a dolphin then perhaps a dog and perhaps a worm as just barely conscious,, then the farther we go down the intellectual latter the less we think things become. I hope that makes it a little clearer than:
Don't limit consciousness to what we only as humans think,,but regress to dogs, then worms,,then plants then etc....You follow me??
oh. thank you for explaining that.
i agree that there are degrees of intelligence, and different "types", but i don't think a plant or a tree is concious in the sense that is it aware of itself or its surroundings. plants do follow the sun, but not out of any conciousness; rather a chemical reaction (chlorophyll reacting to sunlight)...
(ok now i'm thinking of that simpson's episode, where lisa meets jesse grass, a "level 5 vegan", who "doesn't eat anything that casts a shadow")
get outta my head....
Does not nice music inspire plants to grow more?
i don't know. does it? anything is possible...
Satan,
You probably know that because You used to play nice music to your pot plants to make them produce better.
Who, me??

i think there may be something to your theory. i've been reading for the last hour all kinds of websites from universities, etc., and they all come to the conclusion that music does indeed help plants grow, especially classical music. i was gonna suggest "here comes the sun" for my sunflowers, and "strawberry feilds forever" for my strawberries, oh well...
p.s. i do have to add however that the ocean responds to the Moon's pull, but that doesn't mean it is concious it just has something to do with physics...
hushing now, wishing i had taken a life sciences class...
the ocean responds to the Moon's pull, but that doesn't mean it is concious
Are you sure? Just kidding. But that happens beween humans too, and they are conscious, therefore...
