Welcome Dmac, I am happy to see you stuck around and are willing to ask questions. This is important as honest and sincere questioning will reveal what is not true. What remains, what stands on it's own, is Truth.
I applaud your desire to worship the true God. There is an innate awe within us of a profound greatness from which all arises. The mind senses this awe and wonder and does what it does best, it weaves a story around it. It creates concepts, pictures, ideas, interpretations, beliefs, teachings, and religions in attempts of molding some THING that it can hold and embrace. The mind artistically engraves a mental image of a god in it's own image: generally a male deity with human emotions and characteristics. It then worships it's own idea and forms a tight bond and identity around it. It forgets that the god it has created and writes scriptures about is just a mental fabrication, and has nothing if anything to do with what is behind the silent awe and wonder which it originally built on. The foundation is forgotten, and the false idol is worshipped, loved and greatly cherished.
If we silently watch the mind and honestly investigate, the facade can be revealed. However, few are willing to discover the truth about the falsity of their cherished god. Who would we be without our Jesus, our Jehovah, our Allah, or our whomever? Even atheists have strong ties to their non-beliefs. (speaking this way usually doesn't make me many friends)
When our personal little gods are gone, we are still left with the silent awe and wonder, a desire to unite with our Source. This, stands on it's own. The mind did not create it. The mind can not even understand it; yet, it is here, within. So, the obvious thing to do is go deeper here. Shift attention out of the minds story-land, and into the living sense of awe and wonder. Be willing to let the entire house of card crumble. Be willing to let every falsity and lie about ourselves be revealed. What remains, is That, which the word "God" points to.
We are free to mentally reduce and limit God to some tiny anthropomorphic deity, and then worship it. We are also free to worship no THING and allow Truth/God to reveal Itself.

Hi DMAC--- don't let the elders find out that you are posting here. That would be a big no-no in their eyes-- but if you do your homework you won't find most of their rules written anywhere but in their own self written books. Look in the Bible each time you learn of a new "rule"-- you most likely will find no basis for it in the scriptures. I hope one day you find your way out of the darkness--as one of God's precious children you deserve geniune love and kindness- you won't find that at the Kingdom Hall.

That's who I worship, and he's very prophetic too. http://www.cout.741.com/billyocean.htm (I hope little Danny gets the idea that my church is a sarcastic farce that makes fun of religion. Most dubs who I show this site too are too dense to get it.)
But for real, I worship knowledge and the pursuit of knowledge, something I was discouraged from doing when I was a kid. I wanted to become a physicist when I was a kid. The elders and the other JW community told me I shouldn't become a physicist, how it would take time away from worshipping Jehoover. That was when I was 13. If i stuck to my goals, I would have graduated at 17, gone into school at 18 and by now, I would have gotten my doctorate. Instead, I was told to work to spread the ministry because I don't know when the time of the end would happen. It was just a "few more minutes".
That "Few more minutes" turned out to be 10 years.
If I had knowledge sooner of subjects that weren't forbidden like Anthropology and Theology, I wouldn't be a 23 year old freshman in Community College trying to get an MBA, not set to graduate until I turn 27. So that's why I worship knowledge. It prevents ad cardium propaganda from infecting me, but instead, it lets me decipher any weird BS I hear.
Be it that a former Cannanite turned Israeli bull-god named Yah-uvah used powers to impregnate a virgin and who spoke to a crackpot former Adventist that had an obsession with pyramids and whose organization got stolen from an alcoholic who left his organization to a failed Greek and Hebrew student who couldn't even translate his organization's bible correctly and equated organ transplants to cannibalism to UFOs to Voodoo priests to telemarketers (Which I used to be, BTW.)

Lostreality
Just because we aren't JW's anymore, doesnt mean that:
A) we've lost all morality
b) we are satanists
c) we are lost and must have SOMETHING, ANYTHING to worship, or we are said sick little people
I sense your comment regardin having everything you want is in error.
you live in an 800 person town
the average ratio of women to men (over the us) is 1.21 to 1
tha means you have about 440 women in that town
out of that 440, about 35% are over the age of 65 (look up population numbers on the US)
that leaves 286 women.
then of course you have to average out the number of those women who are lesbians (unknown statistcly) so lets just say 40
now you have 246 women.
lest we forget, you appear to be dumber than a brick, which brings the total number of women you would be able to have down to 2.
as far as the money thing goes, it appears as though you sunk all your funds into that kingdom hall, no?
Enough of me being mean, what im trying to get at is that just because you think you have found the truth, doesnt mean you have. IMHO, No one has the truth. Dont blindly follow men, or they will lead you down the wrong path. If you want to find out what could even come CLOSE to being the truth, research it yourself, using non WATCHTOWER publications.

So, who?. Jesus?, a "Saint"? one of the many Pagan Gods? or Satan himself?. Or don't you worship any god? I think it would be intersting to see who has your attention, Well in all cases above Satan would have your attention but i just want to see how. I heard of a few who grew up as Witnesses but are now Satanists.
satan who? dmac...you had such promise. i thought you at least weren't that far brainwashed. i don't worship any god but i do feel a wonderful spiritual presence in nature, especially when i'm in the mountains or woods, or even in my garden planting flowers. how could you think we worship the devil? he's so last millenium...
Hey there Mr. Happy... what shall we do today? Ohhhh... more of THAT huh? OK!
omg lol!

I heard of a few who grew up as Witnesses but are now Satanists.
I also heard of a few kids that grew up as Witnesses that became serial killers, rapists, strippers, porn stars Senators, one was the President of The United States, drug dealers, hockey players, and some *Gasp* became child molestation victims before they left the JW's. (But that's another thread and forum entirely.)
We demolish ad-hominem attacks here so don't bother bringing them up.

I used to start each day off with the Daily Text.
But now I wake up, turn my back to the temple, face the east and bow to the sun.
Then for good measure I make sure to thrust out my shoot into someone's nose.
Ahhhh, what a way to start the day....
