Last night Lisa and I experimented with three different ways to enjoy the 151 Black Seal Rum she brought me from Bermuda. It's so hard to choose a favorite but I think I'm going to have to go with the Pina Colada slurpee from 7/11 with a gererous splash of rum in it.

Yummmm. Sounds wonderful. We had a great bottle of Mumm Champagne to drink, but we both fell asleep before 10, in front of the TV, so we decided to have it another time. Oh well, we're old.

See you later at the annual King Family New Year's Day get together.

I must be getting old, too. I was home by 3am, last night, from another fiddling session.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the holiday season, though

    Steve and Rachel:

First and foremost, Celtic Mark and I would like to echo LT's and others appreciation for your wonderful hosting abilities. Mark and I arrived early on Sunday and were welcomed with open arms. I too relished the fabulouso coffee machine and will be searching Williams Sonoma for one like it! Rachel made sure we felt right at home, proffering food and drink (mmmm....yummy lasagna!!)

We also enjoyed seeing Gumby, Little Toe, Xena and Bubbles and all the rest............... glad we left in time to miss the fireworks display!!! ((((( Rachel )))) for all your work and effort. T'was a grand time!!!

    Note from Celtic Mark:

Hmmmmmmmmm, hmmmmmmmmmm mmmm indeed. So glad you had an absolutely fantastic time Ross, good to see you settling in. Cor Blimey, that weather down south ought to be right up your kilt after you arrived back in rain drenched Scotland.

I will keep you posted as promised with updates as to progress here and if I find out any information, will be sure to pass it your way, not a problem, pleased to help. If you could do the same for me, twould be much appreciated.

Fly home on Wednesday, looking forward to the jet lag.

Things I enjoyed about the USA: Bisous, of course. Starbucks coffee. The food. Photo opportunities and the vastness of US culture and landscape especially the mountains and deserts. Big ass automobiles. Hearing the word 'cute' elongated as only the Americans can say the word. The optimism of opportunity and their work ethic. Clothes that you can buy off the peg that actually fit me at prices which knock 400% off UK prices. I love the house styles here and the extraordinarily low prices of them.

The downsides: Hertz car hire customer service. Oregonians saying 'Huh? to the British accent drove me up the wall. Everything being the completely opposite way around to the UK, driving on the wrong side of the road, doors opening and shutting, taps and light switches. US plumbing. No pound key on the laptop, finally President Bush winning the election, which put Bisous in a right cantankerous mood for days. Beyond these minor hiccups, the visit was a completely positive experience - Great People!!

Loved meeting everyone in Seattle and our own apostofest in Hillsboro, great honor.

Ross take care from both of us, wish you all the best with everything and the best new year to you ever!!

Make sure you get the PA in order!!

    Celtic Mark

PS Granny Grace Love You and Miss You Heaps!! Will send photographs to you directly if you post to Bisous your e-mail addy and I'll see you later in the spring when I return. Big hugs and bestest wishes to you. xxxxxxx

It sounds like you had a great time out here, we hope you can make it out again sometime. Or, maybe one day we'll have enough saved up to come out to your neck of the woods!

Wednesday started with coffee from a machine that I just have to get - complete with built-in bean grinder!

Well you didn't have to break mine We got home from the airport and it was broken so I quickly yelled "DON'T TOUCH IT" and Lisa and I ran off to Williams-Sonoma where we gave back the stupid broken one and upgraded to an even better machine. The new "el machino" has more precise measurements...you dial how many ounces you want each cup...each cup is brewed much hotter and it has a groovy digital readout....and....most importantly.....it's quieter.

So Bisous, what you want is the Jura Impressa E-8. You won't regret it.

After a lavish breakfast of eggs, ham and pancakes with maple syrup, we then headed down to Seattle.
It was REAL maple syrup too. Ross forgot to mention the REAL maple syrup...I bought it specifically for him...well, 'cause he whined that he wanted REAL maple syrup. Apparently Mrs Butterworths isn't good enough for SOME people.

    Capresso Jura E8 Impressa

    Technology without compromise!
The IMPRESSA E8 is equipped with all the necessary hi-tech features for brewing superb espressos, cappuccinos, lattes and long crema coffees. The easy to read LED display will show you if you brew mild, regular or strong coffee and displays the cup size while the machine is brewing.

With its silver metallic middle section, the stainless steel grid and the chrome plated auto-illuminating buttons the Impressa E8 makes a beautiful statement in any kitchen or small office.

    Features and Benefits:
    • Touch the 1-cup button once, twice or three times for mild, regular or strong coffee. When the E8 starts grinding, the display shows the last cup size used in oz. At this time the left rotary dial illuminates. Just turn the dial and change the cup size from 1 oz. to 8 oz. It can't get any more convenient.
    • The 2-cup button always produces twice as much coffee. So, if the cup size is set to 7 oz. the E8 will brew a total of 14 oz. With the height adjustable coffee spout any cup size will fit easily underneath.
    • Two step pre-infusion cycle moistens and conditions the ground coffee. Maximum flavor extraction with perfect crema topping.
    • The Impressa E8 grinds from 5 to a maximum of 16 grams of coffee from mild to extra strong.
    • The Impressa E8 froths and steams milk in a pitcher or right in your cup. Then without any delay it grinds the beans tamps and brews your coffee in less than 50 seconds...or vice versa! No more work, no more guessing, no more messy clean-up.
    • 64 oz. removable water container. Good for 40 espressos at a time.
    • Integrated professional solid steel conical burr grinder for consistent and aroma-saving grinding. Six settings allow you to adjust the fineness for all kinds of beans - from light to dark roasts.
    • 8 oz. bean container. Grind up to 30 portions of coffee before refilling.
    • Frother can be used to release hot water for Cafe Americano or a cup of tea. The hot water function is also programmable from 1 to 16 oz.
    • New CLEARYL Water Care System . Removes chlorine, lead, aluminum and copper for a better tasting coffee. A special organic additive removes almost all carbon and eliminates decalcifying altogether.
    • Electronic CLEARYL cartridge change indicator makes sure that you always have the best water possible.
    • Separate funnel for pre-ground coffee. Use for decaf or flavored coffees.
    • 18-bar power pump with 1450 watt stainless steel lined ThermoBlock heating system. Fast continuous operation for use at home or in the office.

You're spoiled now, Xena. It happens to everyone who ventures too close to El Machino...

I'm thinking of attaching wheels, a handle, and backpack straps, to make it more portable. My name is Steve, and I am an addict.
