Sherry....Awesome that you mentioned Led Zep, which I love too, and I wondered if you liked the Yardbirds which had Pagey for several years. I'm a huge Yardbirds fan and have almost everything of theirs, especially the Page-era stuff. My favorite tracks: "Puzzles," "Glimpses," "Think About It," and "Good Night Sweet Josephine" (phased version).

I don't care for much of the Stones, but I looove the Beatles -- circa '67-69 era especially. I also love just about everything George Harrison recorded...he had such a magical voice and a sweet guitar sound...

Oh....To choose from the staples of Rock and Roll!!.

Early stones IMO were heavy influenced by R&B. I love a lot of the early Stones music.
(ya gotta tell me you're coming back to me).

Beatles were great in their own way. I think some of their later work ranged from genius to "you got to be kidding me". (number 9...number 9.....WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING!!!!)

I got to say the Stones. They survived all these years. (even Keith!!!) And they can still rock out. I always get a kick out of seeing Charlie Watts still playing that simple drum set, and still sounding great!!!!

    All about the Stones!

"I see a red door and I want to paint it black. No colors anymore I want them to turn black. I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes, I just turn my head until the darkness goes. I see a line of cars and they're all painted black no colors anymore I want them to turn black. No more would my green sea go turn a deeper blue. I could not forsee this thing happening to you."

"Paint it Black" is just a bitchin song. In my opinion they're just way cooler than the Beatles.

Jimi!!!! There's a red house over yonder, that's where my baby stay's.
Lord there's a red house over yonder, that's where my baby stay's
I ain't been home to see my baby,
    In 99 and 1/2 days.

I'll never forget, my wife and I went to get chicken from Popeyes and went through the drive thru.
I had that wonderful blues song Red House blasting from the car stereo, wife and I both in leather jackets and shades, just grooving to this fine, fine music while waiting for the chicken. All the young kids who worked at Popeye's had to come over to look at these two 40 something year old "farts", just jammin out to some fine music. They had to ask what song that was and who sings it. So, hopefully, I turned a couple of the younger generation onto Jimi.

Also, Can't forget The Who. Just watched Tommy today. World's first Rock Opera.

The stones tryed to copy the beatles a little bit early on

Probably because Lennon and McCartney wrote the Stones first hit 'I wanna be your man'.

The Beatles are the greatest ever! And I'm glad to see Led Zep get so many mentions.

And for you Yanks who like British bands, go out and buy the following CDs:

Keane and Franz Ferdinand! You just have to!

I won Paul McCartney tickets in 2002 and loved screaming at a Beatle.

I saw Ringo Starr at Billy Bob's in 1997.

In 75 I was given the chance to see The Stones

Thats funny only went to one concert when I was a teenager and it was ZZ Top. Went in and enclosed stadium and even though I didn't personally smoke I got high off secondhand smoke. Well, that was the 70s for you!

Love that song. My kids called it the dead girlfriend song. They were such dark lil kiddies in their taste as they loved it, too.

You know, I think I might have seen ZZ . I saw so many of the southern rock bands: Allman Bros., Lynard Skynard, Charlie Daniels Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Johnny Winter, etc. etc. I must have seen ZZ in there somewhere, but I've slept since then. First concert was Black Sabbath though and then Deep Purple and Humble Pie. Saw a lot of good bands. George Harrison was the best concert. The next best was Neil Young in Sept. 2002.

To be honest, neither of them do much for me. Between the two, definately the Beatles I enjoy more.

I do not question that the Beatles were very influencial when they were around.
