Steeeaaaaadfaaaast we all need to be
Faaaaarrr from this world we keep free
As we (something) God's truuuuth and (something) et-er-na-teeeeee.
Did anyone ever try to sing the song from the opposite page in the tune of the current song to relieve the sheer boredom?
I hated those songs that only took up half a page, had four verses, no chorus, no hook and no discernable tune. Seeing how short they were used to be a relief, until we starting singing.... :(
Worst than Sister Opera was Brother Monotone who always used to be behind me. Embarrassing. -

My folks were the bees knees, they would be trying harmonies and remember the ones that had words in brackets, well when they saw them that was it, the Everly Brothers never had a look in.
We also had a guy in the hall who thought he was Elvis, uhuh, man he was good!!

When eyes of blind ones see again
And ears of deaf ones hear again'''bla bla''
If you keep your eyes on the prize!
I remember a large group of JW youths being publicly reproved for linking arms on a bowling night out and Singing/shouting the song 'We're Jehovah's Witnesses' all around the bowling car park.

Also known as "Some Day My Prince Will Come" from Disney's "Snow White"! And that one that starts
"Because Jehovah Created
The Universe so grand
To Him belong the earth and sky
The works of His own hand"
is "When Irish Eyes are smiling".
Noticing that kind of stuff is a hobby of mine: http://www.soundalikes.com/

Glitter,
Is there not another one that sounds like the theme from Dads Army? I can't place it but I am sure there is one that sounds similar.
Did you ever get the talk about some of the songs being written by African brothers whilst they were in jail?

Dunno about Dad's Army but "We're Jehovah's Witnesses" turns neatly into the them from "Dambusters" if you hum it.
"Myriads and Myriads of Brothers" is "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer".
And one that's going on about gathering in the harvest or something is "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts".
I think there was a thread about this years ago where I was reminded of some of these and discovered some others.
I never heard about them being written by jailed brothers before - which ones?
(My site seems to be down at the moment - must be my craptastic free host, should be OK later)! -

The words escape me unless I hear the tune. Since I don't go to the KH any more, I rarely hear them unless someone posts an mp3/midi here. If you can't seem to get them out of your head, rewrite the songs with appropriate new lyrics.
