    a friend in need,

I'm going to start out by saying I feel for you right now. I was in your situation once, having to defend the indefendable. You can see from the amount of posts the hornets nest has been stirred and the worms are out of the can. So, I'm going to break things up bit a bit and hope you can answer some of my concerns.

Judicial Announcements and Restrictions: When a judicial committee decides to reprove a repentant wrongdoer, they should consider very carefully whether to announce the reproof to the congregation. (ks91 123) While there are many situations in which it would be wise to announce the reproof to the congregation, two were specifically mentioned at the Kingdom Ministry School : (1) If the offense was adultery and the innocent mate has not yet forgiven the guilty one, a Scriptural divorce and remarriage(s) could still occur. It is therefore possible that the act of adultery will become public knowledge. As long as that potential exists, a decision to announce the judicial reproof would be appropriate. (2) If the offense involved the sexual molestation of a child, an announced reproof would serve to protect the congregation, indicating that not all is well with the repentant wrongdoer .

    My question is:

What do you think would be the appropriate indication that ?all is not well? with this child molester? Would it involve saying ?Brother XXXX is a known pedophile but has repented?.

    Steve.

** Denial of the problem insults those of us that lived it, we are not wrong, we know the real truth because we were there, you know only what you are told.

This is the crux of this whole thread---the DENIAL to truthfully LOOK at the real problems with the WTS and acknowledge that they have serious issues with honesty.

The fact that the WTS demands that the JWs not look at any material that puts them in a bad light, says volumes. Like the three monkeys, hear no evil-see no evil-speak no evil..............BUT the evil still exists even though JWs are not supposed to weigh any of it for themselves.

*I* didn't believe what the "apostates" were saying either--and they made me very angry. I tried to defend my WTS teachings, and then said "well let's just SEE what lies are being told and what the fuss is all about".

I was there to stand up for the "truth"---not to knock it. I wasn't prepared for all that I found, and what the WTS has done (and IS doing) behind the backs of trusting JWs.

    I was appalled!

The WTS keeps the JWs in an isolated cocoon so that they can continue with their charade, supposedly the JWs think they are being protected. The real truth is that they are being kept in the dark so as to NOT have the WTS' secrets revealed.

Those that wake up and realize they've been "had", now are treated as "dangerous", becase THEY have uncovered what the WTS has kept under wraps until the 'net came along.

Has anyone ever stopped to think that just maybe Jehovah "DID take care of "it" by allowing all this information to be out in the open? If JWs don't even take the opportunity to EXAMINE these things, then they are not using a sound mind to either strengthen their beliefs---or see all the flaws in them.

Just the lunacy (JW training) of "I won't look at that" etc, sounds, and is, so infantile. I guess it's easier than finding out for yourself just WHAT has gone on in your own organization, and then having the courage to deal with what you've found.

    Remember, God hates a coward.

AFIN, I don't have to - I emailed them to my conductor as I went along.

Like I said, nothing I've said here is news to the PO, my conductor, my MIL, or my husband.

Unlike you, I stand behind my word and follow it with action.

    Thank you, drive thru!

Reminds me of when I was a kid. If I heard something I didn't like, I'd stick my fingers in my ears and make a 'LaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLa' noise.

How true! And if you think about it, many times we were sticking our fingers in our ears it was to avoid hearing something that was actually to our benefit because we thought we knew better.

Great. Now I have a visual for my next meeting. All of the brothers and sisters with their fingers in their ears saying, "LaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLa".

    LOL!

I have a conference call in about 10 minutes, so I can't do it now. But I like AFIN's idea of asking the Society. I was going to give them a call, but due to time constraints I can't. Anybody want to?

    Watchtower - 718-560-5000

The question I want to ask is:

"Why does the Society direct the elders to contact the legal department rather than the police when an allegation of child abuse surfaces in the congregation?"

If nobody else calls before I get back online, I'll give them a call and see what they say.

Fair enough, AFIN? Do you want to make that call?

    Dave

So true, but if you'd have told me that at the time, I'd never have believed you. But now I look back, it's easy to see. Isn't hind-sight a wonderful thing....

RS ... does your study conductor know you emailed him/her posts from admitted apostates? Something is stretched out here ... they would not allow it and you know it.

I emailed her MY OWN posts to this website. Again with the difficulty comprehending plain english.
