Yeah, the farther you get away from the WTS, and the further along in your recovery, the less things like this will trigger comparisons to the Kingdom Hall/hierarchy/Elders/etc.
Tell ya what... your "ranking" might change, but we could probably be persuaded to address you as "newbie" from here on out if you like....

I agree that most people find the "rankings" just something fun. When someone makes a new level, there's sometimes a bit of a hurrah and congratulations. And ribbing.
Relax and enjoy the site. You can ignore the rankings completely, of course, if you like.

My honest opinion:
One needs to have the emotional maturity of a 10-year-old to take those labels seriously.
I see why you draw your analogy, because I'm sure you can find posters who do seem to exhibit this level of maturity (And I don't necessarily mean you :-) ).
But I think the comparison is flawed in many ways. Just think what it takes to resign from posting here? Nothing. You don't even have to make a special announcement. On the other hand, how much does it cost you emotionally to resign from the "respected" position of an elder?
Also, can you give me an example of a poster who is revered only because they've posted a lot?

I just take the rankings as a bit of fun. when i first entered the board I skulled around for a couple of weeks (an apostate by night!). when i was finally brave enough to show my face, so to speak, it took many mistakes to get posts in the right place and work out how it all worked. i actually didnt know what all this junior, senior member meant, until i got to about 80 posts. I thought a Junior member was someone under 16 - durrrrr!
It was another poster, freedom frog who reached 100 posts, who alerted me to the fact that when i did i would become a JUNIOR MEMBER - not that it matters to me, just a bit of fun mind. since then ive been writing alot of drivel everyday, whilst booting the kids off the computor. sometimes hopefully, i write something useful.
so enjoy your time on the board. hope its as good for you as it is for me.

It's the essence of what people say that counts and how we are all gradually moving furthur and furthur away from the bOrg and emerging as ourselves. We learn from eachother and I"ve found that the vast majority here are supportive and TOLERANT of eachother's changing and developing views.
Tolerance, now that's a word you can't associate with the WTBTS, can you?
