Any couple that can stay married for 75 years deserve to have a write-up in the paper. Congratulations to them.
Can you comment on this story WITHOUT being negative?

Almost atheist took the words right out of my mouth!!!
You don't have to be a JW to have a good marriage.

... 75 years !!! well congrats to them ... I guess that they are not the only one JWs or Catholics or Whatever, morevore like Sunspot and some other said in the past (married a long time ago) ... there were not that much solutions (most for women) for a couple but to stay together ... most of the time what separeted them was death (whatever happen in their story - and whatever they say about it when very old and still together - they're not gonna come back on bullshit wish is cool anyway - but it does not mean that it reflects the pure reality) ...
Also lots of women like to romanced there story it give them value (in lying which is funny somehow) Cause it means (to those who don't know about the details/reality : I've been loved because I deserve it (they might really deserved it and didn't get it) - and it doesn't put any black spot on their husband : which is cool also ... that still doesn't mean that everything was THAT perfect ... some secrets are very well hold in between both or the only into the familly)
My Grand Mother (Mother side) always talked about her husband as perfect (not in hearing what my mother told us about it at all ... a good father yes, but certainly NOT a good husband) he died way before her, she never got married again (she died at 99)
It's not the same story from my Grand Mother (Father side) she dare (still alive) saying that when her husband died she actually Thank GOD ! Cause she was living in hell (and yes everybody can tell).
Now there is a difference in between a bad husband and a tyran ... of course !
Some men (and women) are very good in doing thing with discretion (abuses / cheating / ...) what people see from the oustide doesn't talk that much and it often happen that the one who's complainning actually appears like the bad one (Oooops) ... There was a time where my mother (who didn't talk about her troubles) from the outside proch neigborhood appeared like the bad one ... I can tell she was not ... but she have been treated as if, for a long time !!! those who never knew might still believe ... those who realised later I guess don't care that much (it's not their story after all - and they might not even remember being critical and being assholes before - they just aknoleged and move on).

In the big picture we are all of the same family. A "Tip of the hat" to them. Remarkable and Heartwarming story.
At least they will be able to see their kids in the New Order © seeing they "passed" before Armegeddon.

Let's say the situation were reversed. This story about the wonderful couple was exact in all respects except that the religious affiliation was changed. For example, this loving couple had "apostasized" from the Watchtower Society in the 1930s.
Now, to the Jehovah's Witnesses, I'd want to ask:
Can you comment on this story WITHOUT being negative? That would be an interesting question, indeed!
At best, I bet I'd get an icy silence.

The sad part is, that you could replace a couple of words in that sentence with any other evangelical or fundamentalist type religion:
"The Scottsdale couple reflected on that and other memories Friday in their Scottsdale home, where Sunday they will quietly celebrate their 75th anniversary, receiving calls and visits from friends. The Baxters said their faith as Southern Baptists and shared belief in the Bible have been their keys to a strong marriage. "
The JW's have no monopoly on happy marriages - though they would like to think they do.

Its always wonderful to hear a story of a couple who can stay happily married for so many years. But I think it was having a common religious belief that made them happy, and probably just they type of people they were- not because they were JWs.

I'm really glad for them. I think it's great when a marrige lasts that long. I hope my marrige continues that long too. They're a great example to young marriages everywhere.
