In John, it's the sixth hour and Jesus is still alive.....yet Mark has him crucified in the 3rd hour. What's the deal? Gumby

I believe the Jewish "hours" begin at dawn (around 6:00am) ... so, the 3rd hour would be at 9:00am. The bodies of the executed had to be brought down before the sabbath began at dusk.
