I just registered online & do not quite understand how to use this.
By what I have read so far I am not sure whether this is really productive information or just an online mocking of Jehovah and his Son Jesus.
Have I got this all wrong??

gumbygumtimexI know you would want to share the whole truth.
Mar 15:25 Now it was the third hour [i.e., 9:00 a.m.] when they crucified Him.
Gill's commentary:
The time of the daily sacrifice of the morning, at which the priests ought to have been; and the time when the sanhedrim usually began to sit (x) ; for
"the grand sanhedrim sat from the daily sacrifice of the morning, to the daily sacrifice of the evening:''
but this being an extraordinary case, and they in a hurry to put Jesus to death, had been sitting up all night; and early in the morning had procured the sentence of death on him, which they were going to execute by the time they used to sit: this was about nine o'clock in the morning, and takes in the time between that and twelve at noon. The Ethiopic version reads, "and it was the sixth hour", to make it agree with
Joh_19:14 ; and for the reconciling of these two places; see Gill on Joh_19:14 .Joh 19:14
Now it was [the] preparation [day] of the Passover, and [it was] about the sixth hour [i.e. 6:00 a.m. Roman time or 12:00 noon Jewish time]. And he says to the Jews, "Look! Your* king!"Gill's commentary:
And about the sixth hour; to which agrees the account in
Mat_27:45 , Luk_23:44 but Mar_15:25 says that "it was the third hour, and they crucified him"; and Beza says, he found it so written in one copy; and so read Peter of Alexandria, Beza's ancient copy, and some others, and Nonnus: but the copies in general agree in, and confirm the common reading, and which is differently accounted for; some by the different computations of the Jews and Romans; others by observing that the day was divided into four parts, each part containing three hours, and were called the third, the sixth, the ninth, and the twelfth hours; and not only that time, when one of these hours came, was called by that name, but also from that all the space of the three hours, till the next came, was called by the name of the former: for instance, all the space from nine o'clock till twelve was called "the third hour"; and all from twelve till three in the afternoon "the sixth hour": hence the time of Christ's crucifixion being supposed to be somewhat before, but yet near our twelve of the clock, it may be truly here said that it was about the sixth hour; and as truly by Mark the third hour; that space, which was called by the name of the third hour, being not yet passed, though it drew toward an end. This way go Godwin and Hammond, whose words I have expressed, and bids fair for the true solution of the difficulty: though it should be observed, that Mark agrees with the other evangelists about the darkness which was at the sixth hour, the time of Christ's crucifixion, Mar_15:33 and it is to be remarked, that he does not say that it was the third hour "when" they crucified him, or that they crucified him at the third hour; but it was the third hour, "and" they crucified him, as Dr. Lightfoot observes. It was the time of day when they should have been at the daily sacrifice, and preparing for the solemnity of that day particularly, which was their Chagigah, or grand feast; but instead of this they were prosecuting his crucifixion, which they brought about by the sixth hour. -

I go for the different counting of time between the Jews and the Romans. The Jewish day started at 6am whereas the Roman day started at midnight, so the sixth hour would have been 6am and the crucifixion at 9am.
Since we don't know when he died, i.e. the date, does the time really matter? Isn't the important thing the death and resurrection, no matter what time and day it was.

The correct answer is 9PM or the 3rd hour (of the night). One of the posters on this thread got this right, congratulations. There is another scripture that demonstrates such timekeeping notice: Ac 23:23 And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night;
Anyone keeping track of time should have noticed this right away even if the words of the night are omitted but hardly anyone does it seems. Another fact that eludes nearly everyone is that it is scripturally impossible for our Lord to have been executed the next afternoon after eating the Passover with His disciples. This is because this Passover meal began Sabbath and the next afternoon was still Sabbath as this meal ended the day of preparation. The next day of preparation would be some 6 days later and yet because Passover is 7 days long not 24 hours it would still be during Passover that our Lord died.
The Bible has always been correct on this matter while nearly everyone else has interpreted it incorrectly. Go figure?

Narkissos
Not only was it not the same hour but it was not even the same day. John has Jesus crucified the day before Passover (Preparation), at the time when the Passover lambs were slaughtered, while the Synoptics have him eat the Passover on the night before his crucifixion. Oh yes there have been a thousand apologetic attempts at explaining that away, but I'm still waiting to see a convincing one.

Ya ever notice if anyones story was different.......it was Johns? John had alzheimers.
Not only was it not the same hour but it was not even the same day.
That was my next point I noticed Nark. So then Nark.....you mean the explanations given didn't solve the timing problem for you as to the time of jesus crucifiction?

Didi. You gave only two reasons as to why this thread was started...to mock, or to be productive. I did it for the same reason the WTBTS exposes religion. Do you think it to be sacreligious if a few here throw in some humor?
Pole.....jesus wan't in the army ya knucklehead! Sheeesh!
