The Jewish Messiah?

    Moshe wrote in another thread:

I studied with a Rabbi and found out why I was so confused by the NT Gospel teachings. Of course, I never bothered to ask any Jew what they teach about their Messiah, I just assumed that the Christian teaching about the Jewish Messiah matched what the Jews believed about the coming Messiah in the 1st century-NOT!

You've only vaguely brushed up against your Jewish knowledge on this forum, at least that I've seen. Would you be willing to spend a few minutes and throw together a little synopsis of the Jewish take on what the Messiah should be, why Jesus wasn't him, and what the Jews feel Jesus was?

You're not going to get eviscerated for expressing your views here, I think you already know that. I assure you, many will be interested in reading your take.

I only know of Moshe, but any other Jews on the board, please feel free to pop in and share!

Well, I'm not Jewish, and I wouldn't mind seeing what they think. But, from what the Jews in the bible say, they wanted an earthly king to rescue the from Rome, a king like David. They sure didn't expect or want the suffering servant of Isaiah 53.

I don't know of any roosters born of a woman. How many women claimed God was the father of their child? How many of those children claimed to be God?

I was born and raised Jewish and I'm now agnostic. Here are some Jewish web pages that will answer your questions about the Jewish Messiah.

    www.messiahtruth.com
    www.jdstone.org
    www.jewsforjudaism.org

I could give you a very long answer about the Jewish Messiah but it would be a cut and paste from one of the above sites. I hope this helps.

I don't know of any roosters born of a woman. (Isa 7:14)

Is there a translation of Isa 7:14 that references a rooster? I don't understand this reference.

google posted a link to a page that made this statement

There were many more messianic prophecies that I could have added that applied to my messianic rooster. Many more he will fulfill when he comes back.
