I had a friend who was disfellowshiped at 9 for smoking, then for making out with another girl.

P.S. She was re-instated later, stole my boyfrined, guess she either swung both ways or was un-decided, then had sex with him and they were both disfellowshiped.

    She was baptised at 8.

    She was mature at 8.

I was on a JC that df'd a 16 year old for smoking. Got caught once, warned. Got caught second time, df'd. Of course, he dropped out, never to be seen again. Gee, I guess we showed him.

You did your duty...He is probably still thanking you for helping him to get out...

My sister age 14. Baptized at 12. My parents divorced the year she turned 14 and it was very hard on her.. then mom encouraged her to date this 18 yr old brother, thinking he would 'save her' in the truth.. lol.. his mom had a fit since she was so young (and underage) and so she had him break it off.. that broke her heart... then (unbeknownst to me at the time or for many many years later) my first husband tried to rape her the night that she stayed at our home when our 2nd child was born and I was in the hospital.. she was taking care of my first born.. he threatened to kill her if she spoke a word.. but all that in one year.. was too much.. so she went the wild way with kids in school.. started partying. etc... can't remember if the smoking started then too..

at any rate, she got pissed at the elders when they tried to talk to her.. so she walked out of the JC meeting.. and thus they dfd her.

and she has never looked back..

    Jillbedford,

Mature at 8? No one at that age is mature enough to make a life altering decision, that you will have to live with for the rest of your life.

Just look at what you wrote about your friends behavior, does that sound mature to you?

The 11 year ols I spoke of was not baptized. THis was in the late 80s when unbaptized publishers were still disasscoiated and treated as if they were disfellowshipped.

I have actually know of witness children as young as 6 being baptized. I was 10 myself.

I was 11 when baptized. I reall yhave nothing to contribute other than to respond to Dragon Lady's post. I didnt know what the hell I was doing at the time thus I do not feel obligated in the least to live up to my baptism.
