I apologize...I'm just so [edit][edit][edit][edit][edit] angry at "God" right now that I can't put it into words.

Sorry you're feeling so bad. I know it's trite, but remember:

    ... tomorrow's another day

... things look brighter in sunshine than in darkness

... there's nothing that 3 shots of scotch can't cure

If I believed in one, I'd be pretty ticked at him, too.

Has he done something (or more likely, failed to do something) lately that upset you?

(Sorry if it's already obvious from a recent post and I missed it.)

I'm trying to settle my thoughts.

I've been reviewing a few incredibly sordid pieces of history (recent and not so recent):

    1/3 of humanity (10s of millions) dying agonizing deaths by bubonic plague; blood coming out of your eyes--rather like some SciFi monster movie;

    10s of millions dying suffocating deaths due to the 1920s influenza;

20,000,000 Russians brutalized by Germans, and millions more dying in 'death marches' and concentration camps.

Millions of Germans being equally dehumanized by gang rape, disembowelment, and other horrendous attrocities upon human beings.

    The atomic bomb.

    Cancer.

The list goes on and on.

And even such so-called "silent sufferings" as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, etc, etc, etc, and ad infinitem.

When, just when, will the supposed God of this Universe find His Voice?

Can you think of a reason that a god would allow things like that to happen?

JW's - To prove a point about man's inability to rule himself.

Fundamentalist's - That's just life on this old world, the real life is in heaven with Jesus

Believers - I don't know why God allows it, but I'm sure he has a good reason. He'll explain it in heaven

Honorable Mention - We learn from what happens on earth and take the lessons to heaven with us

None of these answers do it for me, but that's all I've been given by the people I've asked. Wrack my brain, I can't come up with a single reason that makes any sense at all, assuming an all-powerful, loving God. The only answer that even has a chance is "I don't know, but I'm sure he has a good reason", since there's no way to say, "I'm sure he doesn't have a good reason". Just like I can't say, "I'm sure onacruse doesn't own a personal island", but I still think it's a pretty safe bet.

Maybe this isn't the answer you're going for, but how would it affect your life and your feelings about it if you came to believe there simply was no god? Have you considered it?

Personally, I feel very comfortable, fulfilled and satisfied with that belief. No guilt, no "purpose" but the ones I develop for myself. No "morals", just reasonable decisions about behavior based on good and bad outcomes. No eternal life, unfortunately, but there is a connectedness to the universe that is comforting. Knowing that you are no more or less "blessed" than the rock, the tree, or the sparrow puts you on a bit more even footing.

I don't mean to "preach" to you, just food for thought.

Onacruise: consider for a moment that the concept of "suffering" launched most the worlds major religions, especially Christainity and Buddhism.

In effect every culture has invented a construct to explain why we all suffer, and a way to escape it. No one has ever accurately defined it with religion, nor captured it with doctrine.

We invented God. Don't blame God, blame the culture that invents it.

    Hey Craig.

I can understand absolutely you being pissed at God.
I never knew what hate was until I saw the inner-workings of the Watchtower portraying God as one of Love.
Personally I hate Jehovah. Someone who says He is Love and lets His Creation suffer for His Name's sake,
well, that's just pure selfishness, love has nothing to do with it.
Things are just not the way JWs tell it. It's up to us to figure it out.
We will. Maybe not in this generation, but we will in time.
So we do what we can in the time we are here.

Heads up dude. I'll buy you a beer when I come over.

    Andy.
