    A lot of people have a hard time coming to grips with God seemingly being "out to lunch" and allowing bad things to happen. I think the actions that are recorded in the Old Testament are far worse than simply ignoring things happening now. God "reportedly" killed thousands of people, many of which were innocent children.

    Personally, I have come to grips with my feelings about God. I have found salvation with the Landover Baptist Church. If you would like to visit their website and see what their about ... go here http://www.landoverbaptist.org/. You too can be saved!

    They have quizzes you can take about different bible topics. One you might be interested in is about God's wrath. http://www.landoverbaptist.org/news1100/godswrathquiz.html

    Maybe God "the process" is simply devoid of consciousness and intent. It's workings are amoral as a result.

    I'm trying to settle my thoughts.

    I've been reviewing a few incredibly sordid pieces of history (recent and not so recent):

    1/3 of humanity (10s of millions) dying agonizing deaths by bubonic plague; blood coming out of your eyes--rather like some SciFi monster movie;

    10s of millions dying suffocating deaths due to the 1920s influenza;

    20,000,000 Russians brutalized by Germans, and millions more dying in 'death marches' and concentration camps.

    Millions of Germans being equally dehumanized by gang rape, disembowelment, and other horrendous attrocities upon human beings.

    The atomic bomb.

    Cancer.

    The list goes on and on.

    And even such so-called "silent sufferings" as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, etc, etc, etc, and ad infinitem.

    When, just when, will the supposed God of this Universe find His Voice?

    You know what's really screwed up? The fact that once, when I was a JW, I believed that Jehovah was allowing these things to take place so that he could "vindicate" his "name" and "sovereignty", to prove the "rightfulness" of his rule. How warped is that? I don't have to eat shit to know it probably tastes bad. Walter

    Hey Cruiser! I frequently comment to athiests that I don't believe in the same God that they don't believe in! So I guess, if I believed in the God you believe in, I'd be pissed at Him too! Me thinks you need to check out a different God....oh,, maybe that's what's goin on!

    Thanks for your responses.

    To be honest:

    I started this thread because the death of Nina's Mom coincides with the death of my second brother.

    Steve died from a long and brutal physical death (cancer); he was 6-8, 325#, and at the end was 140#; bare bones, and a mere rag of the man he used to be.

    In the examples I gave, some are people-against-people; perhaps explained away as simply being animal-vs-animal.

    And what about the inherent self-destruction of our physical organisms? How can it make any sense that "some guy and gal did something 6-****** thousand years ago, and so, as a consequence, 10s of billions of you must die painful deaths, to prove that I (God) am right?"

    ((((((Craig))))) Watched my dad die the same way at 13. Awful, horrible. In retrospect, watching him shun and not speak to his kind, wonderful, df'd paramedic baby brother who was taking care of himin his last days was almost worse. Love ya man.
