Were Stories Told About You When You Left The "Truth"?

Hey Min, a thought occurred to me. These 'happy' experiences would be ideal to hang on the congregations bulletin board for everyone to read.
These people need to be 'aware' that there's a happy life beyond the JW world.

Good point Golf - or maybe a small brochure (containing ''facts'' and experiences) to distribute to each remaining member....

Honesty
I have heard that there was a rumor going around the area that I had left a destructive and emotionally damaging cult but the local elders will not confirm this to anyone.

What!!?
Just before I left at 19, I stupidly told a friend in confidence (a loyal dub to this day) that I was gay, he immediately stabbed me in the back and told the elders.
Soon ... the rumors started (traced back to a sister who runs a beauty parlor). The rumor eventually giggled its way back to my mother, who was understandably devastated when she heard that her only son was running around town in a dress . And this sister who started the spreading the joke, while apply blue rinses, was a dear friend of my mother's.
It was all I could do not to inflict bodily harm on that lying %&ch! I sat in my car one day, talking myself out of going in ... because I knew if I confronted her and she LIED about it, I would go to jail.
What a fine example of the sort to be found in Jehovah's organization!

I guess if the stories are true, it isn't so bad. But it seems Witness mentality is that to be a good JW, you need to gossip and tear down a former brother or sister.

Best about me were I was a wife beater and too materialistic and career driven to make time for Jehovah.
Also I was having alot of sex with "Worldly Girls".
I wish!
