Jackson'd Case, Potential Door To Open Pedophilia Stories

The MJ case is predicted to last 6 months. This time frame can have a very crucial impact on the JW org. and their mishandling the pedophile problem.

This story will hit the news media on a daily basis and I believe its going to do some serious damage. The org, will have to go into some kind of 'damage' control mode.

My view is that it will open the doors to other unanswered questions. People will be asking the door to door JW questions, how will they answer these questions? How about their Bible studies? Will the org. prepare them or will they ignore it?

    Care to add additional comments?

No thoughts? I was hoping to get some 'interesting' comments on this topic, but NOTHING? WOW!

I don't think that many people will equate Michael Jackson to JWs... Example: his plastic surgery and you don't see people saying "OMG look at him, never get plastic surgery" no, what they say is don't do what he did. Plastic surgery is on the rise even though he's a freak.

I think mainstream people won't blame the WTS for him, just like they aren't going to blame plastic surgery as a whole.

JTP, I was thinking in terms of the drawn out case. If his JW background doesn't 'surface' in that time frame it will be unusual.

I haven't watched Bill O'Reilly for months, but when I did, he never mentioned MJ's background of being a JW.

In the event it does surface, it will be interesting to know 'how' it will be played out. Thanks for your comment.

Golf that is what i have been hoping and thinking will happen but who knows maybe the jws will not even be brought up in the trial.

Guess we will have to wait and see.

I think in the court case itself there will be little talk of his upbringing. ?Had a weird childhood? isn't the sort of thing a defence lawyer wants to be blurting out in a child abuse case and I don't think the prosecution will bring it up as it will have very little relevance to their case being at best superstition.

The media on the other hand may well pick up on JW paedophile cases and tie them into the case. If Jackson is found guilty then we can expect months maybe years of speculation in which his childhood and the JWs will predominantly feature.

It's the media that will be the culprit, remember selling, selling, selling, is the key here. They will exploit it to the hill.

'Any' tid-bits for the National Enquirer, etc and away they go. In the event they do make a big stink about it, its the 'image' of the JW's that will have an impact. It will open the door for many questions. How will they be received in the DD work, etc?

I'm sure we'll find out more once this subject surfaces during the trial (which is inevitable). There is a possibility that this may become a bigger issue than we all think. Especially how Jacko responds during this phase. You have to look at the fact that MJ will be in a position of defending himself, not the WT. If he needs to degrade the WT to cover his own ass, he will. The only question is how extensively the media will cover this stage of the trial?

I'm with you truth_about_the-truth, it's going to be all about exposure. For myself, I'm expecting some fireworks. If there's no fireworks, something is going on behind the scenes.

The people at the local coffe shop has given MJ thumbs down.

You also have to remember his defense is that he's NOT GUILTY at all of doing anything. He's not trying to explain WHY he did do any of the crimes, he's actually saying he didn't do them.

Sometimes a guilty person tries to use mitigating circumstances, explanations, etc as their defense. In a case like that I can see his attorney using his childhood as part of the excuse. I don't see it being used in this trial though.
