I sure hope it comes to light in a big way. This way they'll really reform their ways.

They supposedly wrote a letter to the body of elders of all congregations around the world asking to report child abuse problems to the authorities. However, this move was just to cover their butts legally. They darn well know that they've indoctrinated the masses not to go to the authorities for any reason because it brings reproach to Jehovah's name.

This is why wives are never encouraged to turn their abussive husbands to the authorities, of course that's if the husband happens to be also a JW, and why they'd never give part to the authorities in case of child abuse at the hands of another JW.

I don't think that many people will equate Michael Jackson to JWs

True. But our buddy Danny Hassard is working at it. POsted on the news only a few days ago:

Ruling offers new basis for suits against churches By Michael Kunzelman, Associated Press | February 23, 2005

A Superior Court judge has ruled that a Jehovah's Witness church in Boston can be sued for breaking its trust and legal duty to a girl who said she was sexually abused by one of the church's ministerial servants.

Suffolk Superior Court Judge Herman Smith Jr.'s ruling is believed to be the first time a Massachusetts court has determined that church officials have a "fiduciary duty" to members of their congregation, a relationship akin to the one lawyers and doctors share with clients and patients.

Smith's ruling, made earlier this month, also is expected to open another legal channel for lawyers to bring civil suits against churches for clergy abuse cases, according to Lisa Bruno, news editor for Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. "It gives another piece of ammunition to plaintiffs, another grounds for finding a church liable for the actions of priests and ministers," Bruno said.

Carmen Durso, a Boston lawyer who settled 40 lawsuits against the Archdiocese of Boston in 2003, said he expects Smith's ruling to pave the way for more clergy abuse cases to proceed. "It affords another basis, a stronger basis, for bringing claims against churches in sex abuse cases," Durso said.

The girl at the center of Smith's ruling was between 9 and 11 when a ministerial servant with the Columbus Park Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses allegedly molested her during Bible study classes in her home, Lawyers Weekly reported.

The girl's parents, who learned about the alleged abuse in August 2000, sued the ministerial servant and two Boston-area Jehovah's Witness congregations for negligence as well as breach of fiduciary duty.

Michael Jackson's 'problems' have much to do with his being raised a Jehovah's Witness.

Clergy sexual abuse in the "other" religions.

Clergy pedophiles "per-capita" among the Jehovah's Witnesses exceed the Catholic church .

This is due to the church elders enforced 'code of silence' aka the notorious, "two witness take-down".

The Jehovah's Witnesses Church leaders absurd requirement of having TWO WITNESSES to the crime of child molestation.

Gerard, yes, I saw the post the other day. I've hung around plenty bars due to my occupation and there's plenty of news floating around especially when it comes to a hot topic. Whether people equate MJ with the JW's I'm willing to wager that many think he's a pedophile. When you couple this with his association with the witnesses people will have plenty to gossip about, believe me. Every morning at our local coffee shop, we get the latest local and metro. gossip.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

I doubt the media will link Jackson and his JW upbringing to this current trial. I'm not sure its relevant, either. A twisted upbringing isnt a defense, and he had so many other things wrong with the way he was raised - being a sort-of JW is a minor one, in my opinion.

mamochan13, thanks for your comments. Have you read ALL the posts on this topic?

I used the word, 'potential' meaning 'possibility, capable of coming into being or action.'

The time element gives it a better possibility, 6 months!

Rag magazines thrive on such material. Sell, sell, sell. Its like what Rutherford said, Advertise, advertise, advertise, the King and his Kingdom, did it work? If it didn't, how and why are we on this forum?

With bible-boy in the whitehouse, the republicans dependence on the religious-right and the general direction of America towards an even more fundamentalist state I really don't think the WTS has anything to fear.

The powers-that-be will protect religious groups because if they were to fall then so would they.

So the people who bomb and murder innocent civilians, women and children care about a few kids being abused? I don't think so.

All of them, the religious leaders and the politicians, are just concerned about selfishly protecting their own positions and power. They have each failed to protect the innocent and vulnerable in society as they should. The legal system plays along because it gets rich in the meantime.

Greetings Simon. Good to see you comment. I agree with the political games, we have them in my hometown. However, when the chips are down for people of their position/stature they have scapegoats, like Martha Stewart and Nixon, just to mention one or two. It paid handsomely for Martha going to jail, oh excuse me, confinement, for six months!

Its the common folks, the general population I have my eyes on. The politicians don't give a hoot about the common folks. These people are only interested in money and prestige. Their the cream of the crop.

This MJ is just a side-show for them.

Well it sure is going to be interesting to watch. I am a little bit surprised that the prosecution started their witness list with the children. So far it's been determined that all three kids at some point... lied (whether it be this case or other cases involving their family).

I think if you are trying to prove that somebody is a creepy child molesting monster.... it's going to be a tough road when your first two witnesses got "beat up" in cross examination. As of now the jury has in their minds that these kids have lied (and very well could be lying now).

It would have been smarter in my humble opinion... to build up a case with others (family, friends, acquaintances, employees). Those people can help build up the "strange behavior" with children situations... and then have the child and/or his siblings come at a later point in the trail with what happened to them.

We shall see what happens. My poor husband is now subjected to the daily re-enactment on E! it's on every day (1/2 hour show at 7:30PM) They re-enact with actors (witnesses testimony)... and then legal commentators rehash the day and comment on things shown in the re-enactment. It's pretty cheesey... and I can't believe the guy they have playing MJ. LOL!! But I am watching it daily (the commentators are from news shows and Court TV and high profile lawyers)

I so wish the trial was on Court TV or network TV (like OJ's was!) Oh well... I get to watch the cheesy re-enactment instead. LOL!!

    J~
