I can tell you one thing, I hated going to meetings since the day I can remember. I never enjoyed going, never looked forward to going, and when I did go the end of the meeting and going out the door was the most relief that you can imagine.
We did nothing at meeting, we learned nothing, it was an exercise is mind control.
The people were pampas, arrogant, stupid, uneducated, and thought that they knew it all, Today when I tell people that I come to know, what goes on in a jw hall, I get a stare followed by you have got to be kidding, followed by that's bull shit.
then when jw's have a get-together, every one talks like a 5 year old at Sunday school trying to get brownie points, every thing has to be so sanitized, you watch every thing you say and think about it before you talk, and say things like "I had a good experience in service today" or " isn't the world getting bad, the end is so close" or I am glad my kids wont have to grow up in this evil old system.

One thing we all did was gossip. We'd look at everyone else and talk about them, their families, their friends, their anything. Yet we would die for our brothers and sisters! Ha!!!

I went to a meeting a few weeks ago. Some out-of-town family JWs wanted to go so I went just for the hell of it. Had a couple of good conversations with a some people I haven't seen in a while before the meeting started.
But the meeting itself...OMG...BOOORRRIIINNNNGGGG. From the second the brother asked everyone to take their seats in the same old monotone request as he has for years: "friendsitstimetotakeourseats" and then just stands and waits until everyone sits and quiets down and then "letsstandandsingsong....52". The singing was just awful. Not any feeling at all. They were singing only because they had to. The prayer was dull and lifeless...I don't think God heard it..I know I would have ignored it.
Then the Ministry School. Boy have they dumbed this thing down. The Bible Reading is just that. Reading. No intro...no conclusion. And the guy who read couldn't read and obviously hadn't bothered to look at it before getting up to read it. The sisters gave a dull talk...guess what the setting was? Yep, a return visit. Can't anyone come up with anything interesting or different?
Then we sang another song....well, we listened to a recording of a Kingdom Melody. Not too many actually sang. I didn't...I went outside and walked around.
Then the Service Meeting. Accounts Report. That's always interesting...NOT. Okay, they paid for their electric bill...Praise JAH! Let's get on with it. First part...I don't remember..It was something from the Kingdom Ministry. An elder actually gave me a copy. All I can remember is that we(ooops - JWs) need to watch how much time is spent on recreation and spend it on Kingdom pursuits instead. Yawn. Then the final part was on the offer for the month. An even duller more lifeless brother than who started the meeting gave this part. I'm not sure, but he may have dozed off during the example presentation by the two housewife sisters whos kids started crying when their moms got up to go to the stage. The dads were clueless. They didnt know how to shut em up or figure out how to make their legs work and take em the hell out.
Finally the closing song and prayer. Another listening of a recorded song. I saw lips moving but didn't hear much noise other then the scratchy recording through ancient blown speakers. The final prayer lasted forever. Some ole brother who's too old to give talks is asked to pray and he makes every use of his oppurtunity to hog the stage. He droned on and on and on and on. I was praying that he would have a stroke so he'd shut up. I watched the audience during the prayer and noticed that only about a third of the people in attendance had their head bowed and eyes closed. I made eye contact with at least three people during the prayer.
I realized then, that no one really believes this shit anymore. It's the guilt and fear that keeps em coming. And as boring and dull as this meeting was, it was obvious that it's starting to show. Cracks are appearing in the foundation. I don't know how long it will take, but I think maybe the beginning of the end is starting, not for this old world, but for the JWs as a major religion in the western world.

You grow up only to realize you did it all for nothing. It leaves you feeling broken, hateful, and betrayed. It also makes you long for the past only to realize you can't change it. Then you get even angrier, and then one day you just break down because you hate what you were, what you are, and want to become a normal person with normal memories and friends. Then you find a website that is home to those just like you. You meet some great new friends, and slowly start taking back your life. Then eventually you start to find what you wanted all along.
Isn't the internet great?

I know a few JW's.....they all live different lives...one is a nurse....she is OK...and keeps all opinions to herself......one i use to work with.....totally opinionated and full of Jehovah that it flows out from her mouth.....then there is the one who gave me lessons....he is manic and desperate....there is one i e mail and is a freind of the manic one whom i don't talk to anymore...she is full of the joys of Jehovah and what grand things are in store and how plagued her life has been with satan doing bad things that cause much hardship and distress.....all except the nurse say they are bright and clever....and go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on....(get my drift).....about all the good things that Jehovah has is store for us....i bet they cannot wait to get their hands on me and drag me to the Kingdon Hall given the chance....their essence of life to me is go convert and pray.....the borg comes to mind....so beam me up scotty.....
