My Sister in law Jackie and her hubby came to visit this weekend.

Last month, so they told us, they went to the opera, in Sheffield. Just before the opera started a couple of security guys arrived and asked them if they would please stand so that 2 people could pass them to some vacant seats further along the row.

To their astonishment, the couple turned out to be Charles and Camilla!

Jackie said that they were charming and friendly. She said that Camilla was immaculately dressed and looked much more attractive in real life than she did in the many photo's of her.

Well, whatever. I wish them all the best for the future.

You know there's a saying that "If Our Lord falls into Our Lady's lap, England will have great mishap."

And guess what the Feast of the Annunciation (Lady Day, March 25) conincides with Good Friday. I think stuff has actually happened when this happened... some king abdication and another one died.

Y'know 54% of Australians would rather get rid of a monarchy than have Charles in charge.

I would only support the monarchy, if the Monarch was no long the governor of the Church of England; and they should get rid of those pesky anti-succession laws too.

As America has no monarchy; many treat the stars of Hollywood as the American Royal set.....at least they are beautiful to look at....

Let Charles marry the Rotweiler and be done with it...

They may have had their security, but it's nice to see them out as "ordinary folk". The president has so much security, and requires so much from any local police that he is unreachable, untouchable, and a burdon.

    Charles in charge

We had a sitcom here in the US by that name. Nothing to do with royalty. I think it only lasted a season!

I was watching some news reports about Charles today as he has been doing his royal visit down under. It was the first time for ages that I have seen him happy and jovial. In the past he has often looked insecure and out of place at these type of things.

I think he has got a lot of stick because of incidents in the past but I think he is actually a decent guy. There has been quite a large call in the UK for Charles not to be King but I think he would do quite a good job. Out of all the royals I think he's the most in touch with the real world and if you listen to some of his statements and lectures he actually makes a lot of sense.

I'm not a royalist by any means but I would feel a bit sorry if we lost that part of our heritage. I think it only costs us British taxpayers a couple of quid a year and they're worth that in entertainment value alone. They definitely need to modernise though and I would agree that there needs to be an end to the association with the Church of England.

    Anyway, I wish them well.

What does the camera add extra wrinkles and a "rode hard and put away wet" look?

I must say I?m with Englishman on this one. Out with the bunting and three cheers for the Prince of Wales.

It seems to have slipped some peoples mind that we had a republic before France or America. Tried it for a few years then though better of it.

Can?t wait for the commemorative mugs
