After all these years, they can be together. I always felt the royals are more like birds in a gilded cage nowadays. No real power. Charles was just a pawn of the system, as was his first wife, and Camilla as well. I'd like to see the monarchy slowly fade away, with a bit of dignity. Hopefully, the next generation of royals can life a life that somewhat approaches normalcy.
I bear them no malice, it's just that I feel their time is done.

I like my head of state to be ordained by god and able to cure baldness (last performed by Queen Ann)

They are an archaic invention that only serve to satisfy a chariacature of what some people imagine it is to be English.
They have nothing to do with being English ... they are German for gods sake. (no offense to Germans). Worse of all they are actually spectacularly bad at just being royal. There is no sense of dignity but more of a camp (and very expensive) soap opera.
The ball has been set in motion to abolish them. What do you think the objections to hereditory peers in the house of lords ultimately entails? They are the ultimate in herediroty peers.
... and please tell me when this republic was supposed to have been.

I took it as a reference to Cromwellian times (?)

There were some pictures of her in her youth, as a socialite, where she is shown to be quite attractive. She needed braces, thats for sure, but for some reason, she never got them.

She said that Camilla was immaculately dressed and looked much more attractive in real life than she did in the many photo's of her.
Ya, it's amazing how the camera can get rid of all her wrinkles and horrific yellow stained teeth!

Simon WHAT UTTER BULLSHIT YOU TALK - lets talk pure genetics - The Queen herself being borne of the Queen Mother Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyons of Glamis is 50% Scottish - the rest off the Queens genes do have a huge amount of German ancestry - but if you follow the genetic line - Prince Philip is Greek - and Diana was almost pure English with some Scottish - then Prince William has very little German Blood indeed
And go back far enough Simon - you are Anglo-Saxon (guess where Saxony is -- yes Simon you are Gerrman)

To dispose of the monarchy would mean disposing of our own sense of identity. We are a monarchical country, after all.
Monarchys are also far more stable than republics.
