The apologist becomes the best anti-Witness we could ask for

Yeah really ! it's even funy to sad somehow to realised how freaking programmed they are to be that blind minded to dare poste what they do poste in thinking that we could be touched by the fear they are still coping with.

What I don't like actually is they're malicious way to deny the truth about the JWLAND policies (THEY KNOW) that doesn't match with Christianity, and insulting the victimes as liers or sinners ... (time for them to check their own mind ... but are they able to ?) obviously NOT YET.

but like you said : you can't "UN-LEARN" ... they just need to think for real ...

Therefore, I am happy to see the apologists on the board. In their own strange way, they help show lurkers what the WTS is all about.

True. I don't think having the apologists on the board is necessarily bad, as long as they are polite and respectful (which everyone should be).

I do feel a sense to try to save these people from the WTS. They are on the board--that's a big first step. There's a reason they're on the board. Just because they're spewing back JW dogma and buzzwords in a defensive manner doesn't mean they actually believe it. They are scared to say anything negative about the dubs, out of a fear that the big J will strike them dead and they'll get DFd due to the unforgiveable sin (apostacy).

I feel bad for anyone who is brainwashed by the WTS. Their willingness to engage in a discussion may very well mean that they have partially begun to think for themselves. I know, when I was a dub, I questioned things and defended "my" beliefs when challenged...all the while actually thinking my "opponents" made some very good points. I think all of them actually helped play a role in me leaving, even if the effect wasn't immediate.

I think it is important to remain respectful, polite, and calm when talking to them, even if they try to provoke. They want us to display bad behavior and sound irrational. Not stooping to that level makes us more credible and more difficult to prove wrong. I've found this technique quite helpful in various forums when talking to current dubs.

    All good points.

The other thing is we all have to remember what mindset we used to be in, I remember carrying around a sack of guilt and trying so hard to alleviate my own guilt by being judgemental of others. Many JW apologists have trouble believing it is the "truth" but are racked and led by guilt as though they are not "spritual" enough or proving themselves enough to be good JWs.

It's all about time. Give every person 10 years and then see where they are we'd see such differences I am sure.

    Well put SNG!

Not only do JW apologists benifit this board, but others such as Brownboy, Schizm (whom I enjoy), the partiarch Fred Hall, and others like them........provide a classroom for discussion in which all onlookers and posters benifit from. Regardless how ridiculous a thread is, or the poster is......good information is given by others that benifit many.

I used to get upset with Minimus for so many questions..........till I realised his questions and threads opened the mouths of many to express themselves and much was learned from the comments of those who respond to them. Much of the time many threads take off in a different direction......but if it accomplishes some good......who cares? Many times it's not a well written thread that prospers here.....it's the subject.

Firstly, I totally agree SNG. Well put, and yes, they help themselves and help others by showing how weak their positions really are.

Secondly, would you agree that we see a very narrow demographic of JW's coming on here? I don't know exactly how you'd define that group, but I'll bet it has unique characteristics. I'm not talking about Brownboy, or people that actually have begun to see the truth about the Troof, but the group of genuine JW's that decide to come on here and defend their faith. I wonder what traits they have in common that allows them to defy the Watchtower (that they are here to defend) and visit an apostate board?

"I'm strong enough to visit apostate sites and not be harmed by it."

"The Truth is so strong, it can defend itself. I'll show them their errors and maybe they'll come back!" (and turn the apologist in to the elders!)

    "This should be fun!"

    Apologists?

I havent seen any dubs apologize for the society killing people with the blood/organ/vaccine doctrine. The dubs dont say they're sorry for the false prophecy, teachings, agenda. I've never been apologized to for not being allowed to go to evil old college. When will they apologize for making this religionpologized to a haven for child molesters, wife beaters, & other low lifes.

Phew, that being said, I like seeing guys like dost, and jwben, swordofjah and others. They have already taken the first step and broken free from the dictatorship of the Governing Body by being here. As self righteous and horsey as they seem to us, I think we ought to treat them with the respect and dignity they dont give us. Why? So that we can be made fools by them? No! They dont get respect from their organization. We can disagree with them in a non raving lunatic apostate, dignified way. This is much more tasteful than the way the society handles dissent.

Six months ago I'd have been doing exactly what the aforementioned ppl do. By the way the express themselves, and the lack of understanding their own beliefs, I can tell most of the apologists are spiritually weak from the dub point of view. Just remember, when you respond to these guys you are responding to a fellow apostate who thinks he/she is still loyal to the org. If he/she was loyal he/she wouldnt be here.

They leave out of fear I think, things start clicking and the first reaction is to run. Give them time.

While sincere JW apologists are more than welcome, and it's nice (and fun) to discuss with them, I have a much harder time with disingenuousness wherever it comes from -- stubbornness coming as a close second. When I intuitively feel either of those characteristics (sometimes a bit too late) I definitely prefer not to respond. My impression is that those, not JW apologetics per se, are responsible for the most hurtful threads.
