Welcome to the board, Beth!
Englishman.
Can I be the first to welcome the brilliant one Bethelgert?!
Nice for you to stop and come out of the shadows so we can say hello!
Welcome to the board as a visible entity!

welcome to the newbie...wonder how many more lurkers there are wondering about?
Hmm... Bethgelert... that sounds so familiar. Where do I know that from. Welsh congregation maybe? Even attend a quickbuild?

Nope sorry, never been a JW, but the welsh connection is there (odd really as I'm a Scot), The name is a dirivative of the Welsh villiage called Bedgelert. It related to a fable about a loyal dog, a chieftains infant son and a wolf. (I added the Beth part because I wnted to sound like a girl.)
Hmm... That must be it. I swear I visited someone in Bedgelert before. That old age senility is kicking in.. hehe

She reckons it's all about control and power. She loathes the submissive wifely thing, she reckons she's plenty female anough without some dope from NYC telling her how to be all sweet and simpery.
I like that in a woman.
I am lucky enough to be with a never-been-a-JW-guy who likes that in a woman, too. I don't know what it would be like to be with an exJW. My JW husband divorced me mostly because I didn't want the dopes from NYC telling me how to be sweet and simpery either. Now my ex is lonely and bitter and I'm quite happy with Andy.
Andy is pretty happy with me. I think one thing that helps us is that I did not study until I was 17. I was raised in the Episcopal/American Anglican Church which to him means catholic without the control.
Andy hates that my sister and brother and nephews shun me. I think he'd be happier if I rarely visited this board though. He thinks I spend to much time reading and posting.
Mine was a great help in getting me to start thinking deeply on the JW subject, because early in our relationship, I was still brainwashed and considering trying to get reinstated. He just asked thought-provoking questions that I couldn't answer with all my JW studying and programming.
That was a few years ago. Now he saw I had the NWT out, and said, "You're not still reading that rubbish, are you?" Hee-hee! I had to explain that I was talking to someone who has a JW relative about it.
My DW is very supportive but thinks that I'm a little obsessed. She feels that since I've been out for so long (15+ years) I shouldn't still be so worried about what they do.
It is hard to explain it to her...that since my family is still in and shunning me...that it still effects me in some way. I feel the need to keep trying to find a way to free them....sort of like the psycological effect of a soldier leaving a buddy behind in battle. There is that constant nagging that you failed them and should have found a way to save them.
She also finds it hard to grasp that I could ever have believed their BS.....hates the shunning....would NEVER have put up with the wifely submission rules (LOL)....
She stands with me and supports me at every turn....I find her truly amazing. *stops before the real sap rears its ugly head*

Hah.....You might have made it... BUT Englishman (who is a mod) must have wanted to welcome her first. He must have bumped your post down one just so he could do the honors of welcoming Bethgelert....I hope to be number three to welcome Bethgelert to the board but who knows what will happen to my post now...
Pozdrunk again?...
