I logged on to see if anyone picked up on this unbelieveable inclusion in the questions. Is it even legal to ask this of someone??? The intent is obvious: if you have AIDS, or are HIV positive, you are NOT getting into the pool with the normies; furthermore, anyone you are interested in dating will KNOW that you are sick. When you thought they could not become more controlling, it just gets surreal.

Get baptised into God's spirit-directed organisation soon.
You will not be able to and play in unless you become a baptised follower of

someone who seems to have committed suicide
I guess a gun in his hand would be a dead giveaway [pardon the pun]. Or do they have to have two witnesses to THAT too?

(e) Why should one having a communicable disease inform the presiding overseer before getting baptized?
My gut reaction when I first read this section (e):
Because then the PO will have to be told of how and when you contracted the disease.
He would then have the dirt on you. If it was from pre-JW past, then no problem. If not, then you are BUSTED.
If you don`t tell him at your baptism, and they find out later because you are sick, once again, BUSTED.

Edited to add: Also, this is another way of reinforcing thought control, by ensuring that `you must tell us everything, you have no right to your own secrets and privacy`.

This AIDS and baptism concern was discussed in several WT publications but it was not in the baptism questions. It was added in with a separate page to the elders but not to the rank and file.
***
g94 3/22 p. 15 Helping Those With AIDS ***What should a person who knows he or she has AIDS do when he or she wants to become one of Jehovah?s Witnesses and get baptized? Out of respect for the feelings of others, it may be wise for them to request a private baptism, although there is no evidence to suggest that AIDS has been transmitted in swimming pools. While many first-century Christians were baptized at large public gatherings, others were baptized in more private settings because of varying circumstances. (Acts 2:38-41; 8:34-38; 9:17, 18) Another alternative would be for the candidate with AIDS to be baptized last.
That same article had this "loving" counsel:
***
g94 3/22 p. 15 Helping Those With AIDS ***The prudent AIDS sufferer realizes that others are sensitive about this disease. Therefore, out of respect for the feelings of those who want to be of assistance, it would be better for the AIDS victim not to initiate public displays of affection such as hugging and kissing. Even if there is little or no possibility that such gestures could communicate the disease, this restraint will show that the victim is considerate of others, thus engendering similar consideration in return.
Realizing that many have fears of the unknown, the person with AIDS should not be quick to take offense if he or she is not invited to private homes right away or if it seems that a parent restricts a child from being in close contact with him or her. And if one of the Congregation Book Studies is held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah?s Witnesses, it may be wise for one with AIDS to choose to attend there, rather than in a private home, unless that one has discussed the situation with the householder.

I pointed out to the elders that they were breaking "Caesar's law" by insisting a person with AIDS had to tell the elders, especially since I had never known an elder body that could keep anything confidiential. All it took was one Blabby Kathy telling his wife even if all the other elder's didn't tell.
I pointed out that many people didn't know that they were HIV positive. How would they be "protected" from transmissio from such people?. I told them that as long as there was no sexual activity or needle sharing or blood being transfused at the KH everyone would be safe
What idiots!

I had to stop and sit up straight to read that 'infectious disease' section. WOW.....
I couldn't find the questions on what happens if/when you decide that you no longer choose to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Or what are the consequenses of failing to live up to the long list of rules.
Which questions were those??
