BTW, wasn't Sunday's episode a stunner? Especially Alan's impassioned speech to the Texas court of appeals ("If it may please the court ... With all due respect") and the execution at the end.
I think Alan's obnoxiousness has been toned down (unfortunately), but the writing in the show seems to be getting better and better.

What makes him great is that he KNOWS he's a ham.
We have loved the character of Allan by Spader on Boston Legal. Who ever writes up his parts has it down very good. Betty White is a scream. And Denny Crane is just too funny. We love the show. I hope to see many more years of William Shatner, he is just fun.
