I wonder if my romantic ideas are just Hollywood bullshit that doesn't happen in real life, and if I should be happy that I found somebody like her even if I don't feel like "oh my god she is my whole world" and that kind of stuff.

Dan Hi, hollywood, yes, is mostly bullshit, however, don't you think you should be able to feel something special for someone that your willing to attempt to forge the remainder of your life with? Insecurity on her end appears endless. 5 months and she's already talking wedding bells? Doesn't sound like a good sign to me. If you feel you're being pressured, I'd strongly consider putting the emergency brake on

One of the biggest problems I have with her is that she doesn't seem to respect my independence.

It's like she has an idea of how I should be and she becomes angry when I don't toe the line. First sign of future relationship, boundary violation, take my word for it, RUN LIKE HELL, if it's about good sex, no amount of bump & grind theology is worth sacrificing your freedom and independence!!!

I do think though that love is the same concept at 16 as it is when you're older. It's just your requirements in a partner maybe change order but feelings of love stays the same.

If it feels like a weight has been lifted when you haven't seen her, that should be your first indication that you are NOT in love with her.

As somewhat of an expert in this area of life, 3 failed marriages and countless relationships that ended with a lot of pain and heartbreak, I must agree that you are NOT in love with her. If you feel stifled now, get the papers and your life will be as much a nightmare for you as it will be for her. Sorry, old man, but these are the words of experience.

I'll stick with my pets from now on.
