For Maximus: I'll ignore everyone else

    Hippikon,

I understand your frustration with Rex, believe me. It's just that you have to take hard-core, JW loyalists with a grain of salt. They've ventured into our little snakes den of apostasy before--Stillintruth, Friday, etal. You have to pity them, really, and expect them to lob inflammatory insults since they don't have anything else to fight with--certainly not truth. Someday, if their hearts are right, they'll be alone in the middle of the night and all of the excuses they make for the errors and evil of the WTS will evaporate, forcing them to come to the only right conclusion. It will be a sad day, but a good day.

Until then, we have to kill them with kindness, showing them the only Christ-like personality they are likely to run across.

    peace,
    todd

    Just a thought, teejay,

Why do we have to kill them with "Christian kindness?"

Quite a few of us are openly atheists, agnostics, etc.

Perhaps we should try to achieve common courtesy? Being civil is a goal, which no matter what our spiritual outlook, is attainable.

In the hopes of being civil to Rex, even though he said he would ignore me, I take back calling him a "dork".

I apologize, your honor, for calling half the cabinet asses. Half of the cabinet is not asses. Disraeli

Rex is not a JW any more. Over the years of his posting on H2O, where he went from WorldlyWitness to just WW, he left the WTS behind after seeing its flaws. He subsequently allowed his ears to be tickled by charlatans who teach the things he longed to believe, and now he is a fundy. So your empathy for Rex, though noble, is misplace in his case. He is no hard-core, JW loyalist, and he knows better than to engage in the behavior he is engaging in. He's been posting with us for years.

Good evening, my dear waiting. You know, I meant to mention this a while ago, but you have almost too much class for this board. Almost.

    You said,

Why do we have to kill them with "Christian kindness?" Quite a few of us are openly atheists, agnostics, etc.

Sorry. I must've had a jdub flashback! <g> I don't personally believe everything I was raised to believe about the man. It's just that when insults are being flung, it's a little counter-productive to respond in kind. You know that. I've never seen a post of yours where you got down and dirty.

Dubs don't really bother me. (Hell, my mom is a dub!!) I was one for so long, I understand exactly how they think, what they are likely to say and why they are likely to say it. I know where they want the discussion to go and how they are going to get there. I'm shaking my head as I write this... an easy argument to win, if that's what I want to do.

Their childish attempts at insult are just that... very juvenile. They cannot attack the arguments so they attack the person. (There must be a word for that.) I'd rather not sink to their level, but I know that not all agree with my methods, and that's cool, too. Achieving common courtesy? Having civility as a goal, regardless of our diverse spiritual perspectives? A worthy goal, I'd say. It's gotta start somehwere.

In the hopes of being civil to Rex, even though he said he would ignore me, I take back calling him a "dork".

"Dork"? <g> Like I said, you got too much class.

    peace,
    tj

    Seeker,

I remember WorldWitness but I didn't know that Rex was that one's latest incarnation. I guess I haven't been paying attention. Your post helps me put the man into perspective, as well as explain why Max has ignored him.

    Thanks.

You are really missing the answer on this one. They don't like me because I am standing firm behind my Christian beliefs. Most here cannot deal with that as they cannot get away from what momma Borg taught them about 'false religion'.
It's like Black Man (1) used to say on h2o, JWs are like some kid who finds out 'his momma is a crack hoe'. They reason, "If my momma is a hoe then ALL mommas are hoes".
    Later,

You simply refuse to recognize that any other views are valid on some subjects.....
If Alan didn't say it, you don't believe it.
You probably wonder why I am tough on you in particular at times. It's because you always move to defend the AFs and JHs of the world, even before they themselvess do!

I assure you that I am not a 'JW loyalist' and have not been for about three years. I am just tired of all of the Bible bashers, Christian bashers and atheist proseletyzers having free reign in this place. BTW, thanks for the general understanding of where I am coming from.

You wonder why I nail you guys whenever I get a chance?

You take my quotes out of context, then you post that offensive cartoon about God-in-the-flesh! Even if you don't believe in Him you should at least respect the way He lived his life and died for others. Even if you think He is a MYTH you've no right to be such a jerk.

Patently false. If that were true, we'd be fighting with people like Ros who stands firm behind her Christian beliefs.

It's your constantly circling back to lies that annoy us.

Most here cannot deal with that as they cannot get away from what momma Borg taught them about 'false religion'.

Utter trash. We have moved well beyond what the WTS taught us about 'false religion.' I reject your beliefs because of what I learned after leaving the WTS.

    Deal with that!
