Unlike apostates, and unlike Jehovah's Witnesses - I do not know if they have the truth.
That is the difference. Are you getting the idea yet?

So then, your main issue with people who believe that Jehovah's Witnesses do not have the 'truth' is that they have no doubts as to the lack of 'truth' contained in the WTBTS teachings?
It's a respectful question, Slim. I'm just trying to understand where you are coming from...

you are still using this term the way Witnesses do.

Sorry Jean beanz, but people like Valis just put it right up me I thought you were the same, but I was wrong

And apostates are ever so respectful of the Witnesses, aren't they
Apostate is a neutral term.

Yes, slimboyfat, I understand that that is your position - one of agnosticism with regard to the question of whether the JWs have the truth.
I know AlmostAtheist has pointed this out in another thread, but I think it bears consideration. JW doctrine itself precludes the moderate position that you are trying to take. You can't believe JW doctrine and at the same time take a moderate position because by doing so you take a stand against the JW doctrine.
I think this is an important point.
Valis and Pole: C'mon guys, let's give a guy credit where credit is due. I saw this as a thoughtful thread. Remember the dynamism in all our belief systems.

You don't know and yet *you* make judgment on others? How do you know that *everyone* who's left JWs believes the same? Or that they don't believe? You don't know if I believe some or none of JW tenet. You don't know if I'm in/out/or what MY circumstance is. I doubt you know everyone on this board to make similar distinction.
Do you believe *all* Iraqi people are one thing and *all* Brits are another? When I hear about a U.K. criminal, should I be lumping YOU in with them, even though I don't know you from Adam? I wouldn't be very mature or thinking to do that now would I? There is a danger to painting people with one brush. History has shown when you do that you can end up with things like genocide, racism, violence, etc. That's not a very healthy attitude you're fostering there in your short-sightedness. Even JWs, for all the other faults, are taught that God is not partial. We're all individuals and it might be in your best interest to learn that...because otherwise you simply come across as petulent and pedantic.
You don't know me (although I did respond to the thread that Valis referenced here) and you didn't bother to respond to my questions there. So as far as I'm concerned, you're not worth much more of my precious time.

Whats an aposate? Some people might welcome the label, others might be hurt by such name-calling. How can you tar with the same brush, friend? The Watchtower sometimes produced words of wisdom, please see below.
Awake magazine (
?Some people insult those who disagree with them by questioning character or motives instead of focusing on the facts. Name calling slaps a negative, easy-to-remember label onto a person, a group, or an idea. The name-caller hopes that the label will stick. If people reject the person or the idea on the basis of the negative label instead of weighing the evidence for themselves, the name caller?s strategy has worked.?

1. Apostates are people who believe that Jehovah's Witnesses do not have the truth.
That would mean 99% of world population are "apostate". I think you're overusing the term.Pole - there is a difference between apathy and a belief that someone else is wrong. Most people don't care/have not even heard about Jehovah's Witnesses.
There are a few kinds of people:
1. Jehovah's Witnesses who believe that Jehovah's Witnesses have the truth
2. Apostates who believe that Jehovah's Witnesses do not have the truth
3. Ordinary people who fail to believe that Jehovah's Witnesses have the truth
4. Me who does not know whether Jehovah's Witnesses have the truth
I hope this clears matters up.
Thank you sng for your further comments.
