Donald, My advice is to fade away and never look back. This organization is terribly hypocritical. Granted, most (all?) human organizations are hypocritical, but then again, WTS claims to be the one and only true organization being led directly by God Himself for over a century. Does God Himself make mistakes such as these? Visit the links and you will see documentation of these hypocritical actions.

    1. Support for the war effort appears to have been embraced in 1918 by the Watchtower Society, who praised the United States? set of laws and suggested a specific day be set aside to pray for a favorable outcome to World War I.?WATCHTOWER, 6/1/1918, pg. 174
    2. The Watchtower Society joined the United Nations as a Non-Governmental Organization in 1992. According to United Nations documents, the Watchtower Society filed applications for membership that required pledging support of UN principles and agreement to disseminate information publicly in support of the UN. The WTS membership status came to public knowledge via a newspaper article in 2001. The newspaper alleges that the WTS then made a hasty withdrawal of the UN, in response to public outcry. The WTS apparently claimed they were inadvertently listed as a UN member after applying for a library card, a claim which the UN states is untrue.
    3. In 2002, it appears the Watchtower Society owned a significant percentage of stock in Rand Corporation, a manufacturer of military equipment, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission web site.

WTS is a billion dollar publishing company whose finances are secret and have little known humanitarian expenditures. Even rank and file members are called "publishers"!

Welcome Donald--I just started posting a few weeks ago myself. I can't believe how much I have learned about the Watchtower Society in just the last few weeks. This website is extremely informative, as well as being an emotional boost from people in many different circumstances. Some people like myself, have been inactive for many years, others are still actively attending meetings.

I enjoy the people who post here so much. I wish you the best in your spiritual journey and hope that you find the best circumstances for you and your family. If you research the WBTS in an objective frame of mind, see all the people whose lives have been ruined, and meditate on the treatment you are being shown, hopefully you will come to peace with yourself and see the 'truth' as it really is. The WBTS is a negative, destructive cult that not only teaches lies, but changes their teachings on a regular basis; they cover this up by saying 'the light is getting brighter'. Jesus would never treat people the way the JWs treat people.

    Welcome Donald!

I am so very sorry for your experience by those loving brothers.

Grab a cuppa coffee (or whatever), sit back, and start reading. I think you will soon find it better to be out than in.

With hugs for you and your entire family, and a box of homemade chocolate chip cookies with peacans...

    Brenda

PS - my first husband's name was Donald.

Yup, my advice too is: Fade and don't look back, only forward. Once you have experience the nagging doubts, they will not go away until you seriously look at them.

"Love is the identifying mark". Is it JW's?

I was shocked to learn, firsthand, not from 'someone else telling me', what it felt like to go into church. How heartfelt the people were, how packed their church was, how loving, caring and spiritual they all strived to be. If there is a God, it is not with THAT organization that he is with. No way.

    Welcome from Jez

I too am so happy you have your family with you. It can really seem when the organization turns its back on you all you have left is your family and those few true friends who stick by you (usually of the worldy nature). You will find eventually that can you also have God free from the manmade Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

My advice to you is the same as follows:

You should really get a copy of CoC to help set your mind at ease

I'm not sure if you know what CoC is but it is a book by Raymond Franz called "CRISIS OF CONSCIENCE". It's a wonderful and compassionate book written by a man who was once on the Governing Body. He dedicated his life to Jehovah and served for many years along side the President of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. He has a wealth of information and after reading that book I am sure you will see that the inconsistencies, the intolerance, the judgementalness and the blatant untruths are not only at the grass roots (among the elders) but also at the top. I believe that book will help you to feel better about being a Christian and seeing the JWs and their organization as just another manmade religion full of imperfection. The companion book to "CRISIS OF CONSCIENCE" is also a good one that helps you to work through major doctrines is called "IN SEARCH OF CHRISTIAN FREEDOM".

Please just know that without JWs you still have some place to go. You do not need to go back to be able to love and please God. There are many experiences in the Bible where God's followers had no manmade religious system to follow and not even a Bible to read. They were still able to worship and please God while caring for their families.

Know that the goodness in your heart is what God is concerned with. You have followed that goodness in your heart and your family is all the better for it.

I wish you well in your journey. You sound to be a sincere and kind-hearted individual. We are glad to have you here! WELCOME

Donald...my husband and I and our children experienced the "Phariseeism" of the local elders and also the CO and up to the very top of the organization. I am sad for your experience...it is especially tragic because of your chronic illness.

I hope that better times are ahead for you and your family. My husband and I are so thankful that we left the unloving Watchtower org. and are finding true friends and more love OUTSIDE of the organization! Who would have thunk it?

    Big hug...Cathy L.
