I knew nothing about it as a JW..then after coming to the X JW boards I read a post that claimed that.
Well I didn't believe it so I looked it up in one of the JW publications..sure enough..there it was!
They sure don't teach you much about their origins do they! I guess they are ashamed of it or something.

By the way, I knew a man once who associated with the Seventh Day Adventists for one week then left. He referred to himself as a Seventh Day Adventurer and spellcheck just wouldn't leave him alone.

Russell didn't found the Jehovah's Witnesses. RUTHERFORD founded the Jehovah's Witnesses.
After Russell died, the Bible Students split into two camps: Rutherford's camp (that kept the Publishing Company) and the Russellites.
The former camp changed their name to JEHOVAH'S WITNESSSES in 1931.
