JWs betraying you to the elders.

I was once betrayed by an unknown person to the elders for buying soft porn magazines in a shop. I never managed to figure out who it was since there were many people in the shop (news agency) at the time and I never noticed a JW from the local congo or one from other congos in the area that I knew. To this day it's a mystery to me who saw me there and went to tell the elders. Nothing much happened, I got a private reproof, but why do they have to do this?

Did any of you get in trouble by JWs telling on you to the elders?

no, just kidding. It really does stink that other people feel the need to turn against each other. Then again, high control groups count on members to police each other. That's the environment they intentionally create.

Yes. I confided in a friend about my feelings about the elders and being lied to and betrayed, and they went to those very elders and ratted me out. The elders hauled me back and had a discussion with me. I've barely been back since, and I chewed my "friend" a new one.

Did any of you get in trouble by JWs telling on you to the elders?

I got a call about 2 months before I DF'd the WTBTS for apostasy from an elder who told me that 2 members of the congregation had seen me at Mickey Dees with a woman who was not my ex-wife and that I hugged her. He said he told them it was probably a neice or other relative (she's 22 and I'm 52) or one of my health care providers. I did tell him that she was one of my health care providers but had to really hold back from telling him she is a psychotherapist who helps JW's de-program and the wife of a Baptist pastor because I needed some more time before I severed the WT apron strings. BTW, I didn't just hug her I kissed the top of her head like I would my own daughter. Too bad the JW snitches didn't catch that, hehehe

If you ever had company over, they might have snooped around and found it.

I know an MS that got privately reproved and removed as an MS for having R-rated movies in his home. He didn't own them, they were rented by another member of his family. One day some of the JW friends stopped by his house and the movie rental bag was laying in the corner. When no one was looking one brother looked in the bag and saw a couple of R-rated movies. He didn't let on about it until he told the elders. The elders called the MS in and the MS denied it and then the elders presented thier evidence and blew the snitch's cover.

This snitch brother's wife snitched to the elders about some petty thing involving my family one time. After that I avoided them like the plague. If someone doesn't have guts enough to discuss a problem they have with me to my face then I don't trust them or care to associate with them.

Another less serious incident I forgot to mention(undercover's post reminded me of it, and I've mentioned it in other threads) was when we had the book study at our house and some "sisters" felt that our house wasn't clean enough. So instead of offering to help, or offering to have the book study at their house instead, they went to the elders and the elders talked to us about it. It was a real eye-opener for me, that the loving brotherhood would see fit to go behind your back instead of trying to help you.

in a north scottish cong...a bro and his volunteer band of young-uns used to go round the kh car park checking the tax discs and tyre wear on cars.....and then reported them to the police..the police got so fed up with it they went to the elders to tell them to stop the idiot before they did

slightly unrelated but im gonna tell you anyway.....just found out this week that the j/c that df-ed me and then refused to reinstate me are telling folk that i sent in 11 letters requesting reinstatement some of which were unsigned and scribbled on the back of store receipts....i only ever sent 4...none unsigned...none on the back of receipts..does explain why they kept ignoring me...but who on earth would do such a thing

Yes i have and the betrayer was my own loving husband,even thou he knew i wanted nothing to do with the jws he would run and tattle on me for smoking and even had my own children watch me and report the their dad who would go tell the elders. Then i would get either the knock on the door or the nasty phone calls from the loving jws how i am killing myself and damning my children. As my husband says ,he was just trying to save my life. Somethings will never be forgiven or forgot and paybacks are always on the horizon.
