Kismet - OK so lets take your argument of protecting the wife to the next level then.

Should the WTBS publicly expose a molestor if his spouse wants to stick with him? Or should they use your reasoning?

Isn't this what Silent Lambs is all about? Exposing the pedophiles? Or under what circumstances should we NOT do so? Under what circumstances is it acceptable to everyone for the WTBS to keep it under wraps? We cannot have double standards can we?

I am not a troll - I want this out!! But I do think it is not fair or correct to have a set of standards per the individual case and then try and accuse the WTBS of covering stuff up.....

I know many of you disagree with me on this issue and that is fine - just hold everyone (including the organization) to the standards you espouse!! Most of us on here are here because we hate hypocrisy and inconsistency after all!!

One should the Society be entitled to 'ecclesiatic privilege' as are other religions?

Should such a loophole be allowed when it involves protecting children?

How should the Society respond locally with a convicted pedophile. Should they ever be allowed back in the congregation? If yes to what level?

How should local elders handle reports of alleged molestation?

Silent Lambs are speaking up about how the Society has hit behind the cloak of ecclesiastic privilege and actually harboured pedophiles in the congregation. Or kept information hidden allowing a pedophile to strike again and again.

There already is an Internet list of know child molesters. This site does not need to become a mirror site to it.

Kismet - I am just pointing out that just as YOU and NY and some others can find an abundance of reasons - including being afraid of legal repurcussions - that so too can the society.

They use ecclesiastical privilege, you use protection of the spouse....

In my opinion, the sensibilities of the innocent spouse does not take precedent over protecting children from child molesters. The innocent spouse is an adult and is more capable of handling and surviving the physical, emotional and spiritual injuries than a child. We are the adults; we are here to protect the children.

I only stepped in when you started saying screw her she deserves it for staying with him.

My response was to your "Why would she stay with him?" Any woman who has been abused or battered and reads your comment will be deeply cut and hurt.

I was trying to bring the focus back to the real issues. I guess in your own way so were you.
