    Hello Danny.

    Welcome again!

Folks have given you good suggestions... One thing, though, that has been said and I just wanna stress is this: have an exit strategy, or plan of action. This is very important!

When found out the truth about the "truth", I got excited and ended up telling a sister of mine whom I thought would be receptive. Big, big, big mistake! She wasn't prepared yet, and now she avoids any religion talk with me and would certainly shun me if I was disfellowshiped.

We have to have an strategy that includes what to say, when, in what amount, etc.

    Keep us posted.

    Observador.

I do not think that they are very harmful. In the time I did see people change for the better.

I'm sorry, but the reason you are posting here is to find out how you can exit this high-control group without losing your family and friends. That sounds harmful to me. It makes me quite angry to hear of people who have 'positions of responsibility' who continue to give public talks etc - they are perpetuating the lie. I was brought up as a Witness & I believed it wholeheartedly. If I found out that any of the elders etc in my congregation were knowingly lying to me, I would be MAD. If you are disillusioned, LEAVE.

Leaving is hard, but that is an issue that all here on the site have experience with. I realise that for some it is hard, and fading might be the best option. But please don't keep up the pretence - for the sake of any intelligent, caring children who might be completely hoodwinked by your personality/charisma into believing the whole thing!!!

I would seriously suggest you read "Crisis of Conscience". It is written by a truly genuine christian person.

I was like you, thinking the religion was mostly harmless. There are LOTS of lovely honest genuine people in it. But the more you learn the more you realise the governance and structure of the organisation is truly wicked. The governing body have made major decisions that they knew were inconsistent and not backed by scriptures, and that has caused thousands of honest foot soldiers their lives.

Jehovahs Witnesses do not excuse ignorance (people who do not take time out to discover the 'truth' will be destroyed). I find it hard to take that same line against them, and prefer to think they are misguided and brainwashed, but if I was to take the JW line, I would say there is enough solid evidence of corruption and wickedness in the organisation, and anyone still in it is culpable of supporting it.

But like I say I find it hard to be as harsh as they are, so I just prefer to think there are lots of lovely misguided people in that religion.

But please - read the book, its not apostate.

DannyBloem, interesting article, I also encountered many new feelings regarding the flood, I mean we know it was worldwide, and it did kill off all the bad ones and the faithful Noah and family did survive, buttttt, why are there soooo many tribes that almost seem to have survived this massive event throughout the earth, buttttt have tales of the flood in their folk lore. I'm more interested in the truth and the facts. Still the lies you talk about go much much deeper. Check this UN document from the *UN* website: http://www.un.org/dpi/ngosection/watchtower.pdf

Also I got disfellowshipped recently my full factual story is here:

here is how you avoid lying...

you say - even though there is a no evidence that the bible is accurate on this point, those who have faith in Jehovah, trust that this evidence will one day manifest and vindicate his word.

Thats where you're wrong zen. Didnt you ever hear that the bible names very person, who would overthrow Babylon decades, nay, centuries in advance? That it names kings unknown to secular history, only for archeology to later confirm what the bible said all along?

    RFLMAO!

    Hello Zen and IP_SEC,

that is what I mean. Both things would be telling lies for me.

    for Jgraves,

I never tell from the stage that the organisation is not in connection with the U.N.

So this is never a issue.

I do not care to much about the whole UN issue actually

WELCOME to the board, Danny! I'm glad to read your post. However...

I do not think that they are very harmful. In the time I did see people change for the better.

I totally disagree with your statement here.

I've been on this board for a couple of years, though I have never been a JW. But on this board the fallout of leaving the WTS gets shown for what a cult this group really is. It makes me so angry to read about people who refuse to let their relatives attend weddings, funerals, or say good-bye at hospitals... simply because the relative no longer believes (like you) that the religion is true--or even that just some small part (or policy) is not true! Some people here have been shunned by their family for decades. (Read about Danny Hazard's story.) How is that not harmful? Many, many people here have lost close relatives and friends due to (ever-changing) blood policy. How is that not harmful?

Why not leave and find out how 'harmless' this group is, then? Will you think people really have changed for the better, after you personally experience the full fallout of shunning?

If you decide to fade or leave quickly, go for it. It's necessary to figure out how you will resolve this predicament you're in in some more honorable way than lying, and you do see that. But please, take a deeper look at the prison that this religion represents, and recognize it for what it is: cruel and harmful!

How about giving talks and parts on what you can feel comfortable and refuse the ones that you feel uncomfortable with.
