I find that really interesting because the US government recognizes WICCA as a religion. Like the article stated, it is protected by the First Ammendment. I practice Wicca. There is nothing about it that would hurt a child. The JW's are more dangerous, by far!!

Hell, half the practicing christians i know have torture implements and effigies of mutilated corpses on their walls. Nice. I don't see wiccan's with that shit in their house.

Thanks Avishi..that really surprises me!
I never thought they could do that in this day and age..
They are kind of crossing the line aren't they?
Snoozy...

Interesting!
You'd think the JW teachings are far more disruptive, destructive and disturbing to a child than a teaching of unity with all nature.
Why can't they just ban JW teachings. That would be far more productive?

Isn't that abusing the right to religion?

That is interesting considering the fact that in WI we have a Wiccan chaplain (right word?) in our prison system. It was big news a few years ago, that this chaplain was going to be the only one in the prison. Kept the talk radio shows busy for quite some time. Can't tell you if she is still there though. The media doesn't usually tell you how a story eventually plays out. carla

This has been going around all my pagan lists that I'm on. It seems another indication of the turn towards a state religion our country seems to be taking (contrary to the bill of rights). If you aren't conservative christian you have a stigma. Very scary to me.
Right now the US military will not allow a Pentagram or Pentacle to be put on a headstone in Arlington National Cemetary. They allow the religious symbols of 82 other religions, but won't allow pagans to honor their dead with the religious symbol they honored in their lifetime.

Both say the court failed to explain how exposing the boy to Wicca's beliefs and practices would harm him.
..................which is the most important detail to leave out. Imagine sentencing a crook to jail time and not explaining why your locking him up.
The sad thing is.......the judge no doubt has little knowledge of this particular religious belief. This lack of knowledge on this religious group is WHY more Jehovah's Witnesses do not LOSE court cases. If judges and juries had a clue.........the witnesses wouldn't have a chance except through legal loopholes.

This judge is an idiot. How can you think you'll get away with trying to impose your own idea of acceptable faith on others, with no evidence that the chosen faith is harmful?
