Another article I saw had a quote from the Indiana Family Research Council; they're a conservative Christian organization, but even they agreed that the parents had the right to raise the child in the religion of their choice. No one agrees with this judge (thankfully).

In the past 4-plus years, our country has backpealed on several human rights issues thanks to the current leadership. I'm not surprised non-christian religions are in the line of fire, too. My hat goes off to the Indiana Family Research Council for their stand, but I'll bet many conservatives are not on the same page.

Gumby, I agree wholeheartedly with that last statement you made, perhaps if enough people get involved in exposing the WT Society, then the judges will be more informed.

Welcome to the Heartland...they call it that because there's no brain there lol

The judge must be auditioning for a federal judicial post :)

This judge is so idiotic. However I do feel that the tension between christians and non christians is building. Should hear those political church sermons at those Mega Chruches. Crazy.

"Unless this judge has some very specific information about activities involving the child that are harmful, the law is not on his side."

I have to agree with this statement. Neither parent has expressed concerns about any kind of harm that could come to the child as a result of being exposed to the Wicca religion.

I don't see how the judge's ruling could possibly stand in an appeal.

There is a discrepancy between Ms. Jones and Mr. Jones' lifestyle and the belief system

The article didn't expand on this apparent lifestyle discrepancy mentioned in the above, however I'm sure that if the rituals of the WIKKA faith were in any way seriously harmful, that custody of the child would be taken away from the parents. If the facts reported are reasonably accurate, I doubt this ruling can survive an appeal.

It's unfortunate the blinders this society has. For instance, on I-5 outside of corning, CA there is a sign with a picture of a hand with a big nail through it, spewing blood, and a slogan like "His blood was spilled for you" or some other such crap. And that's acceptable. I find it highly offensive. Not for the religious angle, but the gore angle. It's gross, and scary to little kids, and would be unnacceptable in any other frame of reference.

Jesus works in strange ways eh? Thank god for this judge saving this child from these Godless satanic parents! Non-Christianity has no place in this country. We were founded on Christian principles.....why else for the 10 Commandments above the courthouse door? I mean really they have all the Christian faiths to choose from and instead these hateful, fruit loops, want to pick Wiccan? Puleeze. Take their kids away and put them in a foster home where the nuns can teacch them some manners. The state should then neuter the parents so they can't reproduce. Like that Schivo woman.....the state needs to decide these important decsions. I mean really!! People are stupid and can't be trusted to make decsions like this. ;)

that judge should be removed...how dare he mess with their religion like that. What part of church seperated from state doesn't he understand?

I would be shocked if they cannot get this over turned.
