Yes, I think I understand what you are getting at Six. I pondered about naming this thread what I did, for god knows we are pretty much fed up here with proselytizing truth-salesmen.

However, I'm not selling. Have nothing to offer; nothing to give; nothing to add to what what you already are.

The question of everything has already been answered, about 60+ years ago.

All truth, knowledge, answers, everthing... The answer to it all is "42", the simple two digit number 42. Anything else is window dressing.

To me, the word 'Ultimate' is not reasonable when applied to truth. The reason is that truth is subject to understanding of the facts. Until all facts are known, there can be no ultimate truth. We have not even discovered all the facts about our own planet yet and there is an entire universe out there.

Truth is unchangeable and immutable. The sad fact of the matter is, however, that none of us can know with certainty what the ultimate truth is. All we have is our perception of truth filtered through our collective unconsious, our culture, and our biases. Therefore, I believe that none of us should get our panites in a twist, so to speak, about ultimate truth. The only truth we'll ever have is our own understanding of truth, which is subject to change with our moods and our surroundings which we all filter because of our incapability of absorbing every fact and observation we come acrss. Even if we did absorb everything available to our senses, our realm of observation is limited in that the univers in much larger than our perception.

    Therefore, truth is irrelevant.

    Hello Jeannie,

To me, the word 'Ultimate' is not reasonable when applied to truth.

You are right, if we are talking about 'truth' in this manifest reality of flesh, the material world. Even Pilot appropriately asked Jesus: "What is truth?"

Leaping to the term "Ultimate" truth most often is talking about stepping beyond this limited PERCEPTION of reality to something far beyond material perceptions. I came to appreciate this from a study of Quantum Physics and it's expose of our limited perception of reality, scientifically.

This "Ultimate" truth transcends our limited debates of truth, doctrine, facts, dogma or rational of religion or even science. It suggest we look to a higher REALITY for truth.

JamesThomas...I love the way you talk.

For me I think life is very simple. We as humans make it complex. Live and Love and hold on. Enjoy your time here it doesn't last as long. I believe in God and I believe in myself.

I am enjoying my time now. I see what is important. My Family!

Everyone is worth knowing JamesThomas. You my friend are one we should stop and get to know better!

i guess i am searching for some sort of personal truth that combines being, with the physical. is this possible? i want to live in the moment, and just be. be alive. but at the same time i have to watch for speeding trucks and put food on the table, which involves thinking about the future. i guess i am looking for balance. balance between my personal internal truth, and what we also know as a collective group about "reality" externally.

Since we can't help generating the "He's out there" God concept from within our own minds and then reacting to what we've projected onto the sky (like the Bat Signal) it is obvious that God "exists" in as much as we exist.

But, we end up searching for some further "Truth" about this projection. Kind of like having a ringing in your ear and always picking up the telephone or answering the door as a reaction. "Who is doing this?" "Why?"

I believe there is only what there is. The rest is imagination. If you just settle for what there is you are okay. But, when it HAS TO BE more.....well, you are going on a long journey.

To exist doesn't seem to sit well with us. We can't just "be" it seems without pinning a cosmic "purpose" on it all. We are our own purpose. But, that is too much of a guilt trip for so many people. They are more comfortable being God's stooge; tossing his chamber pot and shining his celestial shoes to earn an uncomfortable wage that flickers and goes out.

The ULTIMATE is the end. We'll all arrive there soon enough. And won't the expression on most people's face be worth a million to see?

This thread brings to mind the song Pilgrim by Eric Clapton:

And what does it mean to know all these things
When love's been wasted all these years
When love's been wasted all these years.
