...that doesn't benefit society at all. You know - the ones where people get paid buttloads of cash for basically doing nothing that helps people in general.

I'll start off. Here are a few of my "pink slip" jobs:

    • Sports commentators
    • Actors/Actresses (Do we really need sitcoms, movies, etc? What did we do before TV came out?)
    • Most "professional athletes" (I do respect golfers in that they only get paid on how well they perform, but still...do we NEED golf or any sports for that matter where they get paid?)
    • Political pundits (what a joke)

I recall hearing my father talk about "watching" the radio in pre-TV days to shows like Amos and Andy, the GE Theater or something and whatever else they did in those days.

You know what, I'm just gonna play devil's advocate here.

If all these fancy shmancy non-jobs were eliminated, what would these people be doing? Crap jobs like the one I have – pushing paper in the most dysfunctional department in a hospital – or digging ditches, or on welfare. Do you think, once Britney Spears or the cast of "Yes Dear" are "rationalized," that they will suddenly develop the chops for brain surgery or firefighting?

If we have to support them with our tax dollars/a few cents of our grocery money/part of our entertainment budget anyway, better they should entertain us first.

movies are good for entertainment purposes, lots of people love going to the cinemas.

Lots of people do acting in movies because that is what they enjoy.

For me when i'm older I wish to be something like a singer, songwriter, actoress, author, scriptwriter. Only because I enjoy doing them.

And trust me actors do not get paid for standing around doing nothing especially for main actors the job can be rather stressful remembering lines living with a perfectionist of a director etc.

Then you have the media chasing after you and invading your personal life, If you slip up at least once its all over the magazines and media!

For example there are heaps of petifiles out there but out of all of them Michael Jackson probebly got the most hatred out of all of them from the public.

It kinda sucks how that happens.

The most bludge, and most boring job I think would be static security in a art gallery, Imagine standing in one spot (standing) all day!

Cat - walk models that look like stick insects. Not to mention the fashion designers who dress them in stuff that makes them look like they're going trick-or-treating.
