Yes, he's a narrow-minded, self-rightous Hollywood idiot who doesn't understand women or childbirth. Who cares? Except for the "Hollywood" part, hundreds of thousands of men fit that description. What makes him dangerous is that he is very influential and:

"because he actively recruits people to Scientology which is a very damaging organization, both mentally and financially."

I honestly do not understand why he chose to come down on Brooke Shields that way. How did her experiences with Post Partum depression affect him anyway? And if he had a "problem" with it (which he obviously did) why make such an ass of himself and go on a soapbox about it like that?

PPD is tricky at best (I had it after my firstborn) and there wasn't a lot of understanding abot it back in 1959. Apparently not a lot has changed, has it.

Usually if you give people enough rope, they will hang themselves. Tom Cruise is doing just that. The more he opens his mouth about Scientology, the more foolish and ridiculous he looks. I recently saw him on TV and he seemed like a man on a mission to get people to understand what Scientology is truly about. When he spoke, he spoke like he was superior and seemed to talk down to the host. ( remember how we felt when we knew the truth and others didn't? ) I've boycotted Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Kirsty Ally films for years! I would not give one thin dime to see these Scientologists !

    Yep. He proposed yesterday.

So what does Katie go home and tell mom? "Hi Mom! Good news! I just got engaged to someone I met 2 months ago who's almost 20 yrs older than me and has gotten me into this cool mind control cult!"

And why is this bothering me? Because the whole scenario sounds just like what I saw happen time and again in dubland.

I'll have to have a word with Katie Holmes; I'm sure she promised to be my sex slave at some point, and now she's going with a delusional midget... you've been a naughty girl... now go to my room...

Scientology is a very good example why FAITH is a great load of hairy bollocks. These people have 'faith' in Scientology, despite the inescapable conclusion that it is a religion made-up by a sci-fi writer for the purposes of making money and controlling people.

What they have faith in is no more-or-less reliable than any other 'faith', no matter how 'clear'/'saved' they feel, or no matter what internalised 'proof' they have.

    ... oh yeah; Nicole Kidman...

Sorry to be non-PC, but you'd either have to be in a cult (true) or gay (unfounded rumour as far as I know) to break-up with drool drool shiver quiver Nicole Kidman...

However, she ain't just a pretty face... and neck... and sorry... as it seems Tom being a cultist twat and her not wanting their kids raised as Hubbard Zombies was a main factor in their break-up.

    LOL!

My suspicion is this trail of women are leaving HIM behind because of the cult and his strange behavior.

Roger that, always make comparisons with the other cults with dubies.
Q: After a lifetime of Jehovah's Witness, how did you move beyond those teachings? A: I figured out that their teachings were just so much, convoluted cult trappings. The thing that really save me was this: When you get disengaged from a cult, you're brainwashed that you're doomed. They brainwashed me that I was like Judas Iscariot - Judas betrayed his master, and now there's only one thing for you to do and that's to go off and hang yourself. For three years I was so shackled and chained to them I was afraid to tell the mental health people why I was depressed and suicidal. Then I looked up a cult support group, and I walked into the meeting and there were all these ex-Jehovah's Witnesses, ex-Scientologists, ex-Moonies, and I realized I identified with them. We're all cut from the same cloth, all come from the same pedigree. And it opened up my eyes. You can't attack any cult because they're brainwashed to not listen to anything negative. Jehovah's Witnesses will take all the bashing they can hear about Moonies and Scientologists because "Oh, they're a cult" - but then when you think about their fundamental dynamics and how they operate, you realize Jehovah's Witnesses are just like that

The Church of Scientology has an ongoing campaign against psychology and all anti-depressant drugs. Like the Watchtower, they have something to say about every aspect of your life. Scientology has its own program$ to overcome depression or any other problem... for a fee, of course. But then you have to buy into their teachings which amount to having alien exorcisms. http://www.whyaretheydead.net/misc/West_on_Scientology.html?FACTNet

If you disagree with the Church of Scientology they have their brand of disfellowshipping you. They declare you (I'm not kidding) a Supressive Person and you are shunned by loyal members. Then you are considered (in their terminology) Fair Game and subject to being smeared or destroyed in whatever way possible. http://www.factnet.org/factnetcgi/discus/show.cgi?tpc=3&post=55469
