My JW neighbor is an emergency medical technician. When my staunchly Roman Catholic father had a heart attack while attending mass my neighbor responded to the emergency. Dad died, and later I heard someone make the comment that my neighbor wasn't following proper procedure in his assistance. I didn't think too much of it at the time, but later when I learned about some of the beliefs of the jws I began to wonder a bit - I have to wonder how he forced himself to enter the church, and how that played into his emergency response. I also wonder about the blood issue and how reconciles his job and its procedures and his jw beliefs.

We have a bumper crop of people in the city where I live become firefighters. My father was the original JW/Firefighter here, and he had a pretty good schedule. He just wound up missing one meeting a week (not a bad thing right?lol). At first the elders resented it, because my father actucally had a good paying job with a pension, and they kept on playing with his position in the congregation. Now there are so many JW firefighters it's not funny anymore. Myself included, lol.

The elders always came down on men that didn't have a normal meeting schedule. Usually they got talked to if they had rotating shifts and were "encouraged" to seek other employment.

I know of two lawyers, a psychologist, a linguist, a medical researcher, and a historian. Agreed, they are rare ... btw, the linguist has left the WTS.

One brother in particular comes to mind. He was always driving the best car(Lexus 400), and wearing suits that would put him on the cover of GQ. He started out as a sales manager for a store in Colorado Springs. He moved up in a big way. He is now the top dog for his company in the state of Colorado. You can see his picture/job description at the following link. He is the second one from the left.

There is another brother that works for the same company. He is also fairly high up as a manager. He used to be in the same congregation as me in Greenwood Village, CO. Both were elders the last I knew.
