Could be psychosis, hyposis/altered state of consciousness of some kind, or boredom. Personally I think I've seen all 3.

Reminds me of the Stepford Wives (original movie) and the Borg. Blank, vacant looks with repetitive sayings.

I do think there are subtle visual cues when a person goes in to Dub-mode. I know, because I can switch them in and out of that mode by switching between "spriritual" and "normal" topics.

My sister pointed out another feature of cult personalities. They don't respect personal space. Maybe Canadians notice this first because we have broad personal space boundaries. Often JW's will come too close when speaking. I've been petted on the arm, the shoulder, the cheek, sometimes from behind. I don't find this affectionate, rather, very very creepy. And yes, the most assimilated women tend to do this.

My sister theorizes this space-invasion is because as the personality is subsumed in to the whole, the individual "I" disappears.

Interesting observations, but maybe it has something to do with US as observers.

For example, how many of us ever bought a car, say a Volkswagon. Then there you are driving down the road and it seems like every other car is a Volkswagon. I recall this experience just blew me away (and it wasn't a Volkswagon).

In other words, could it be that what we see has a lot to do with our mind focus or mindset? We see what we want to see. Believing is Seeing!

Since most of us have left the JW's, having discovered this was all a bunch of lies, myths and illusions rather than the "Truth", perhaps we then, as a natural extension of that realization, began to look upon the religion as Weird, and then by extension, began to see those who remained as JW's to be Weird also. At that point, it would not be too difficult to imagine that these people are vacant-minded zombies walking around with hypnotic trances and wide-eyed stares. After all, don't we look back at our own lives and see how we were so brain-washed by this Cult, and think to ourselves how blind and zombie-like we were? Next thing you know, we start seeing the J-Dubs as a bunch of dream-state Zombie-Kooks, as revealed by the windows of their Souls- the eyes. Believing is Seeing!

I don't believe this to be the case, at least not 100% of the time, because I have seen householders of accusing witnesses of this look, and on one occassion I was accused of having it by a non-witness many years ago.

That is an intersting perspective Rod P. I know I have found many people in my life who had the "crazy eyes". Maybe I am just noticing the ones in the KH because deep down I think they are all a bunch of kook-balls. Maybe there is no statistical difference. Maybe I would be just as likely to find a "crazy eye" among any other group of folks.

Or maybe they really are a bunch of bug-eyed, screw-balls.

Interesting picture. However, I am wondering if the girl is wearing contact lenses. I have noticed a lot of instances or those kind of eyes with people who are wearing contacts.

The guy looks normal to me.

Looking at that picture, I can't help but wonder what is going on in their minds at the moment of the pose.

Was she thinking.......:"Why did I agree to this? I don't really want my pic in a WT".

Both of them were probably thinking..........."Let's get this over with".

Funky D, that girl looks hypnotized.

I see this look in people I meet in person who are not being photographed. My sister has it all the time, she always looks sad & doll like.

As for Charlie Manson, Ted B. and the Runaway Bride, they all look that way on TV interviews, too. How can you be a serial killer, or so wacky you'd allow the entire country to think you're missing, and look normal? I think people who didn't/don't realize these individuals were/are very disturbed are very distracted people.
