The only "positive" I can think of that has any value is... my experience taught me self determination and self reliance when I was finally able to say No more, I've had enough, I'm out of here.

The only thing good in my old congregation was the elders got to practice a hell of alot on JC meetings. Hell, I was the one who made sure they earned their titles and positions.
Anything else that could be considered good would not be allowed. Can't have anyone enjoying their life!

By reading the above posts I would say you stand corrected. Being a jw is like the old joke about banging your head against a wall. It feels so good when you stop. As others have said whatever you learned there you could have learned elswhere with less pain and trouble.

OK I just thought of something I learned of some value . I learned how to mix some really good drinks.

Happy hunting. A few years ago I was on another exjw forum and there were someone there trying to recruit people into some prepaid phone card thing. I think scams are an interesting topic. Does anyone know if they have ever been discussed on this board. I see all those ones on tv for no money down real estate and starting your own business. They want very little up front but I have seen online where people have been ripped off for thousands of dollars once they get them on the phone.
