Actually, I did, it was usually their second family car. I did see several rank and file with 2 door cars because they are cheaper on the whole and that was what they could afford. 2-door cars were never a problem around here.

I remember the 2-door vs. 4-door car issue too. But let's not forget that even a 4-door car wasn't supposed to be too NICE a 4-door car, or else it would reflect "materialism."
It should be a sensible, modest 4-door. Otherwise god kills you. Or something.
