My wife and I just got home from the gym and there were 2 jw's at our door. I couldn't help myself....I felt rage building up inside but I tried to play it cool. Just coming off the NE Apostafest and hearing everyones story just pissed me off when I saw those two dubs standing there. So I said to my wife, " do you want to take them? " Well, I ended up talking to both of them. A brother about 40yrs old and a teenage brother about 16.
They tried to give us magazines but I told them that we use to be jw's and that they should be ashamed of themselves for telling people that Amageddon was coming soon, elderly witnesses who believed what the Society taught them, now have no retirement plan and are living a meager existence and are struggling because Armageddon did not come when the Society said it would. The older witness tried to shield the younger one. The younger one says he has the truth. I said I feel sorry for you, your so young, you don't know what your really involved in. The older one said to us, we have a right to believe what we want. He never let us finish what we were saying and tried to skirt the young one away.
We told them that they should to do some research on their Organization and that they would be amazed at what they would find. I wished I could have handled it a little diferently but we were in a rush and had to meet someone within a half hour. I guess this was better than nothing.
Very well done, Apostanator. Especially for somone in a hurry. You brought up some very salient points and should cause them some pause for thought. At least the younger one, I'm sure.
