We told them that they should to do some research on their Organization and that they would be amazed at what they would find.

Good job! This statement may stir up curiousity in the teenager.

Almost every morning on my way to work there are about 2-3 female JWs sitting (literally) on a wall with the Watchtower and Awake! in their hands passing them to people as they walk by. I usually either walk on the opposite side of the street or tell them that I have the recent mags or "no thanks." Now, I feel like I want to prepare a little speech: "Why are you all just sitting on the wall chatting with one another and handing out magazines? Is quantity more important than quality? Wouldn't it be more beneficial to try to have a conversation with someone than it is to hand out literature? Or is it more important to report a large number of magazines distributed or double and triple digit hours? Don't you know that 90% of your literature ends up in the garbage can? Use a little more discretion. You're not reaching people this way! You're loitering! These people are on their way to work, they don't have time to talk to you. If they don't have time to talk to you what makes you think they'll take time to read your literature and they are not even informed of your message. You are not handing out flyers advertising a local pizza joint, you're supposed to be 'announcing Jehovah's Kingdom'. Are you doing that?"

Not that I care whether they hand out magazines, I just want to embarass them off the wall! It's so annoying!

What an interesting experience! Good for you. Give them some serious shit! And some stuff to think about. I remember a sister telling me about 15 years ago that I would be leaving the Witnesses because I was too intelligent to stay. She had. And here I am....

The morning after the Apostafest, I was driving to a nearby spot to get Lori and I some coffee (we'd run out). As I started to pull away, there were these two young (early 20s) JWs walking in, and the guy waved to me. Now, I remember when this kid was born, and I was a huge influence on his parents, and I studied with and convinced the girl's father to become a JW!

So, instead of just driving off, I drove over and talked to them. Nothing dramatic, just how are they doing, what's going on, etc. We talked for several minutes. I think that anytime they see a former JW who looks to be happy and doing OK, it makes a statement. It also reaffirmed to me that there had not been any announcement about me being DFd or DAd.

Good for you Mike, and my best to Lia. Want to come up to Vermont for a few days??

Thanks for the encouragement and feedback. I had at times been fearfull of confronting witnesses but I guess in a way by doing this, I'm claiming my power back. I know I could have handled it a little differently but that's always the case when you have time to think about it later. It was kinda cool to see them be afraid of me when I told them that I use to be a witness :-) I felt bad for that young teenager. That was me 30yrs ago.

Who knows what the Society will do if we are pro-active with the anti witness message. When we speak to them of the realities of being in the borg, we might be able to plant a seed, especially if they know someone who has directly been affected by their policies.

Seeker4.....we'd like to come up to visit with you guys. Things are a little hectic schedule wise because Lia works retail and her schedule changes every week but we'll touch base to see what we can do.

I understand. That young Witness was me too. It seems so short a time ago, but for some it was a lifetime.

    Oh, yes.

Just stay in touch. We'll work something out about you visiting.

Lori and I loved meeting you and Lia this weekend. We talked about it all weekend. I have a friend in CA whom I've already sent the photo off too. She was in my daughter's wedding 10 years ago.Would love to join us.

Go for it 9th wonder. I think you got a pretty good "presentation" there.

Also JeanieBeanz scripture is a good one to ask them about.

I see dubs milling about all the time where I live. I'm going to go yank some chains. In a nice way of course.

    Good for you!!

Next time I see witnesses sitting in front of a coffee shop I think I will take the mags and shred them within eyeshot of them and toss them in a can.
