I think it's one of those things that they say they want to do but in reality they never do, from what I read on this board their treatment of the inactive ones is getting worse rather than better.

Actually I got a call from a sister, 2 days after the convention, Im sure she was genuine, she never mentioned the meetings but invited me to her holiday home whenever I wanted. I thanked her and said it was a kind thought. The trouble is however kind the gesture was, she didnt even realize she had an agenda, sorry for sounding suspitious but after being a dub for over 20 years-------ummmmm

Back in the early 90's I have heard the same thing, and the treatment was just the opposite.

They may say something once, then that is it....just to make their conscience ,guilty free.

Have to add tho, there are some honest hearted ones, who really do want "us" to come back, but it never seems to last long.

Very few JWs will help inactive people simply because they cannot count the time for their time-sheet.

    well thats not strictly true

    Question

    · Is it still appropriate to conduct a home Bible study with an inactive brother or sister at the direction of one of the members of the Congregation Service Committee?

The elders have the responsibility to shepherd the congregation, including any members who have become inactive. They visit such ones and determine what personal assistance is needed. Where appropriate, this could include offering the inactive one the benefit of a personal Bible study. Organized to Accomplish Our Ministry, page 103, explains that the Congregation Service Committee would decide who might benefit from such a provision.

The service overseer determines who could best provide the assistance, what subjects should be studied, and which publication would be the most helpful. Perhaps the one who originally studied with the person or someone he has known and respected would be in a good position to help. A capable and mature sister may be asked to assist an inactive sister. Usually it would not be necessary for another publisher to accompany the assigned conductor. When assigned, the publisher conducting the study may count the time, the return visits, and the study.—See November 1987 Our Kingdom Ministry, pages 1-2.

Since the student is a baptized person, generally the study need not be continued for a prolonged period of time. The goal is to assist the inactive one to resume attendance at all congregation meetings and to become a regular publisher of the good news. The service overseer will monitor the progress of such studies. The result of this loving assistance should be that these brothers and sisters will be able to shoulder their own load of responsibility before Jehovah and become firmly "rooted and established" in the truth.—Eph. 3:17; Gal. 6:5.

Very funny. Conducting a bible study with an someone classified "inactive". I can just see the elder talking and about to open whatever broxhure they're studying now, and the heavily pissed Inactive telling him".. heck, I know all that shit..." lol. Stoopid. If someone's leaving because of the UN/DPO issue, yeah, reading "What does God Require of Us" will really do it for them. Stupid.

There seems to be so much doublespeak - say one thing in public at a DC and do something else at the hall

Not surprising at all. They've been hemoraging for years. In the past it was more about having something to point to on paper when convenient -lip service like someone already mentioned-. But now they need to do it. Kinda funny how the love of money/power is getting them to consider a more chrisitian and loving course, but not all that holy spirit supposedly showered upon the WT Archons.

No one has contacted me either. We'll see what happens in the next couple of weeks I guess. Actually, it would be good to know if I was already DA'd or not. If I'm not yet DA'd, I can quit before I'm "fired". LOL
