By all means, why don't you tell us all the truth about Samson then?

After all we all want the facts you know.

    Norm,

I think the Bible promotes cruelty towards animals, and fellow humans it is not a "Good" book. Thanks for your clever but true review of the story. Human morals are very contradictory especially when they have been effected by the conditioning found in the bible.. To see past the conditioning some clever humor helps.

I once really wanted to beleive in the Bible...but there came a time when I just couldn't take all the mindless violence coming for or by a supposedly loving God. It's horrific!

Do you think that maybe you havent gave the Bible a FAIR chance? For someone to explain to you the real meaning behind some of the senseless violence you have read about? I would be happy to talk to you about some and maybe we BOTH can learn something in the process.

Personally I have given the Bible many chances for the last 35 years. it has always failed, but by all means share with us all it's supposedly hidden depths and virtues. You must know something many of us have missed. You can start with explaining to me what I have missed in the Samson story. Here is your chance of making us all understand.

Defd would you suggest that we just ignore these parts of the bible and only look at the parts the WBTS wants us to see?

defd...no matter how you twist and turn things, the god of the old testament is a violent and manevolent god, who didn`t take two dimes for killing of anyone/sending his "chosen" people to kill for him.

"31:6 So Moses sent them to the war, one thousand from every tribe, with Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest, who was in charge8 of the holy articles9 and the signal trumpets in his hand. 31:7 They fought against the Midianites, as the Lord commanded Moses, and they killed every male.10 31:8 They killed the kings of Midian in addition to those slain—Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba—five Midianite kings.11 They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword.12 31:9 The Israelites took the women of Midian captives along with their little ones, and took all their herds, all their flocks, and all their goods as plunder."

...what God would allow his people to "kill every male" of a competing tribe? (Oh, and by the way: Anyone ever wonder why the Israelis don`t think twice about destroying entire apartment buildings, killing dosens of civilians (many of whom are children), just to kill one terrorist? - yup, the Torah says it`s ok)

ok norm lets start with your first thoughts

    *** Rbi8 ; Judges 13:2-5 ***

2 Meanwhile there happened to be a certain man of Zo'rah of the family of the Dan'ites, and his name was Ma•no'ah. And his wife was barren and had borne no child. 3 In time Jehovah’s angel appeared to the woman and said to her: “Look, now, you are barren and have borne no child. And you will certainly become pregnant and give birth to a son. 4 And now watch yourself, please, and do not drink wine or intoxicating liquor, and do not eat anything unclean. 5 For, look! you will be pregnant, and you will certainly give birth to a son, and no razor should come upon his head, because a Naz'i•rite of God is what the child will become on leaving the belly; and he it is who will take the lead in saving Israel out of the hand of the Phi•lis'tines.”

God seems to love this “barren woman” trick since he pulled it so often according to the Bible. In this incidence the writer didn’t even take the trouble of telling us the name of this remarkable woman. Anyway .she got the son and for some inexplicable reason he was of course different from all other babies because he was “getting bigger” and Jehovah continued to “bless him”. Then God’s “spirit” apparently started to work on Samson:

You say that for some reason Samson was inexplicably different. If you allow the bible to do the interpreting for you, you will see that, Yes Samson was different, why? It is right in the verses.look at verse 5 "He will take the lead in SAVING Isreal." Wow! What a loving thing for Jehovah to do. Raise up a Judge and Savior for his people who were being repressed and bullied by the Philistines.

Yes, much better to repress and bully philistines than to be repressed and bullied. 'Course, the jews were taking away philistine lands.
