    Hi

A congregation here in the uk had so many cases of M.E (chronic fatigue) that it was labelled as the Jehovahs witness disease. I must say that in my old cong. and locally in other congs., there was an abnormally high percentage of people with this problem. Why do you think this was the case????? Have you experienced similar things where you are????

I remember when I went all kinds of attention hungry pioneers would play that game. They would give parts at the meeting where they would talk about how they had to battle through it. It was always worth it because serving Jehovah is so important in this time of the end.

Just another made up thing to make themselves look better. I never believed in it. If they have chronic fatigue from knocking on peoples doors then I suggest that they stop doing it.

My father was diagnosed with CF several years ago. He could (literally!) hardly get out of bed in the morning. I think those many years of twins, rebellious teenage (me), owning his own company, being an MS, declaring bankruptcy, pressure to be an elder, took it's toll on him. I've seen pictures of my father lately and he doesn't look well. He looks terribly sad and tired. I know if he left this dam* organization, his entire life and health picture would change for the better.

The mental pressure....always manifests itself physically.

Most people would rather visit the dentist than go to another meeting...

This is a really interesting idea. Thinking about it I knew a handful of witnoids with ME, and also my mum says shes got ME, and I would say thats due to stress of being a JW.

    Defininately.

Yes, I agree that those in Jehovah's service always seem tired. I used to imagine how the Pioneer sisters would handle it if they had to work full-time (which the ones I knew didn't, preferring to throw the scripture up in their husbands' faces about how a man who can't support his family is worse than one without faith. To me, it was just a cop-out because they didn't want to / had no intention of working to help with the family income).

All I see now is rampant alcoholism stemming from a lot of confusion and ignorance.

I have FibroMyalgia - the pain side of the Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome coin. Doc things original onset was 1992.

I think my source is a combo of issues but mostly suppressed anger and stress related to domestic violence.

However, my education in suppression of emotions, especially anger and stress, was well drummed into me as a JW child. The word "No" was not allowed in my vocabulary, and anger was simply not proper behaviour - a good setup for both domestic violence and onset of any variety of illnesses.

I was led to believe it was the deemonzzzzzzzzzzzzz . Which the more I look at the organization the more I come to realize they are satanic and evil .

As far as I'm concerned fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue are very real diseases.

I believe the dubs have such a high rate because for one they're stressed out beyond belief. And because these are the types of diseases that aren't understood very well and can't be poo poo'd by the elders. That means that many dubs actually have one or both of the diseases and many dubs probably use it as an excuse as well.

There are a few similarities in the signs and symptoms of chronic fatigue and depression. I believe in a few cases JW's are actually depressed but in denial regarding it. Afterall doesn't the WT society view depression as a sign of spiritual weakness? It wouldn't look good to have all the pioneers being diagnosed with clinical depression now would it? Luckly enough it's ok to skip that stigma with the chronic fatigue syndrome label. Of note; antidepressants are often prescribed for Chronic fatigue.
