Should you be afraid of being killed by a terrorist?

Here is how I view it:

How many people here know someone who died or was seriously injured in a car accident?

How many people here know someone who died or was in any way injured by a terrorist attack?

I am inclined to think that a show of hands would show that cars are far more of a threat to people than terrorists, yet we accept that risk as simply a part of day-to-day life.

Do you think we will ever get to a point where we are willing to accept terrorism as "a risk that is simply a part of day-to-day life"?

I have known lots of people that have died from car crashes and not one from terrorist. But just because I don't know some one that has been killed by lighting that does not mean that I would go out side with a metal pole in my hands during a lighting storm.

Sorry about the &nbsp ,but that is how my computer is copinig some posts,,,,,,,,,Anyway dieing in a car is a hole lot different them someone coming straight to kill you ,just the thought that another human has no regards for another human life does bring shudders down anyone spine .

A car is not feeling and can't feel , yes many do die from car accidents, but most time there is no malice unless you use it to kill some one .

I won't run from Terrorist , if that is the way i will die then so be it but i WILL NOT live in fear.

Well let's see, i grew up w the fear of total nuclear war, all big cities vaporised. It was supposed to have been a real threat. I suppose terrorism may be a real threat, not encouraged by infiltrated american agents, like an american agency said that they would do. Whatever the case, i think risk is lower than getting hit by a car, or getting burned in my building. 'Course, canada may be a bit safer, too.

I've got to agree with the monkey, there is just something about someone trying to kill you that is a little different, and shall we say unsettling.

Let's just say I hope I never have to get to the point where i accept terrorism as a daily risk to my and my loved one's existence.

    Else,

Methinks many can have an opinion, but what would they really do if it happened?

As it happens, Mrs Ozzie and I have been held up by terrorists brandishing AK-47 rifles. My recall of it is that the whole scene moved quite quickly i.e. there's not much time to think of an intellectual response.

For christians, there is no fear for they (we) believe that the Lord is always with us, so in the words of Alfred E Neumann "What, me worry?"

I certainly don't recall fear so much as annoyance at being detained.

Wow Ozzie, I hope I would have the same calm attitude if it something happened to me.

You are right its easy to say what you will do, until it really happens.
