a question of conscience

Okay, I think you should be a bit more prudent in this case and lenient toward visitors. (Especially if they are only readers and not dogmatic preachers).

Finding the truth is a gradual process which for some takes quite a long time to sink in, especially if they believed all their lives that they were the only ones having the truth, and for them it gets rather strange to question” the truth” . The very fact that they are here is a good sign. I can understand your frustration but you’ve gotta realize that these people have been stripped off their personalities, their personal conscience (which is for them something held in Brooklyn and not in their own heads) and their thinking abilities. So you are not dealing with regular Joe or Jane from the street who could see logic a mile away even before you've finished what you had to say. Most of those people are truly lost and are wondering where to next. It is not really easy to turn around and forget half of your life you know.
Few days ago I’ve heard an interesting story. A man and woman in their 60’s were getting divorced. So judge asked man (who didn’t want divorce) why it is so hard to let go off his wife. Man relied: “Judge if I had even a mere rock carrying in my pocket for the last 30 years I would be sorry to throw it finally down the pond, how do you expect me to simply turn away and say good bye to something even more precious? I can’t.”
With passage of time we people have tendency to get used to anything and find hard to get rid off it even if it is hurting us. How many wives stood by their abusive husbands for years at a time? So it is not surprising that when it comes to religion people find it difficult to accept they’re wrong after believed their whole lives they were right.

    Hello Ozzie Sport!

I hope you and Mrs Oz are both well and that life is not too demanding. It was so nice of you to remember me. I've had quite a few aches and pains over the last few months but I'm still surviving outside the Organisation.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks to those who realised what I was trying to get at. As a "Junior member/old crotchet" I'm not too familiar with the computer language that some of you use, I thought that the expressions, Lurkers and Trolls, were only directed to those who read material from these forums and reported back to the organisation!

My only thoughts (after 30+ years of indoctrination and what we were expected to believe) was "how can these ones read all of the constant amount of material that brings into doubt the organisation's spiritually, without allowing the amount they read to question their own conscience towards Jehovah"

Do we really think that Jehovah would be backing any organisation that does not adhere strictly to bible principles.

It took me one year to get enough evidence to secure with full knowledge and confidence the above statement and then resign from the organisation.

I though I would explain my previous comments and reasoning for the benefit of other genuine Jehovah’s Witnesses who come here looking for help.

KATEE’s remark was not addressed anyone personally and he appropriately posted in the Scandals section. He referred to ‘Lurkers/Trolls or whatever you consider yourselves to be,’ Anyone who chooses to identify themselves with such labels and respond is entitled to do so. They are equally entitled to decide they are neither and ignore the question asked. If they reply that is their choice.

Peggy no-one said you were either of these things - you chose to wear the badge then blame the person who asked the question. This is one the traits Jehovah’s Witnesses‘s are known for. Just look at the elders?

This must be a difficult time for you. I hope you find the answers you need. (Click on my profile)

KATEE I see you have not posted for 5 months. Good to hear from you again.

From 10 years of posting and seeing Witnesses come to forums and very often first name call and condemn, then defend, then question, and then listen, learn, and eventually due to the overwhelming evidence, they accept all is not as it was presented to us.
The reason the new ones admonish and rebuke is because that sort of posting is a sort of safe way for them to post in case they get caught in a trap. It might be defendable. Some go on a long time that way. Newly exiting Witnesses are extremely paranoid. Some remain quite delusional and they try to defend their years of unkind behavior as Witnesses at first. Some were very abusive as parents to their little children and they are not ready to come to grips with how wrong their own behaviors were. IF the Witnesses are right, then their mean behaviors were somehow justified in their own minds.
Now with these open viewing forums, I think Witnesses read and ponder safely and anonymously and resolve a lot in their minds before they start posting. It's a good thing.

DEAR JEDI MASTER and JUNIOR MEMBER,

I guess I am nothing more then a NEWBIE. A LURKER even! WAKE UP and smell the COFFEE? YES MASTER. I found this forum quite by accident. I am astounded by the depth of the people here. I never fail to laugh and sometimes cry as I read the posts. I have never left this forum without something to THINK about. The one thing I am not delusional about is the recognition of ARROGANCE! You fit the bill! You would have made an outstanding ELDER. The tone of the post annoyed me! Junior member graciously apologized. As an inactive witness searching, lurking, maybe even trolling.....I never report back to anyone. There is wide range of personalities on this board, I have my favorites. Those with a deep sense of compassion and knowledge never feel the need to LORD it over. Those are the posts I savor! You JEDI MASTER have room for GROWTH!

I`m with you, Peggy. Look, the original poster was probably outraged over an incident on this board, where a JW sent an instant message to one of the members (Stillaxjwelder), accusing him of apostasy etc etc, for being on this board, etc. The person sending the IM was obviously a "lurker"/"troll". So please relax...JWs, and even the GB at the WTS are quick to point out whenever they are caught doing something bad, like the UN-scandal, covering up for pedophiles, etc etc, that they are only humans, and that humans make mistakes. Well, it`s the same for X-JWs too. So please continue reading the board, it is, as you said, very educational.

this is the problem with communicating IN TYPE... it's hard to tell the inflection and tone in ones words. i don't think anyone said anything wrong except it was taken wrongly.

as a side note peggy, there are more than one JEDI MASTER and NEWBIE on this board... so if you'd like to address someone, address them by their name so as to avoid confusion

How can you read all of the info on this forum regarding UN scandal, alleged paedophilia, failed prophecies, U-turn on blood etc. and not have your conscience affected before Jehovah?

Well now we are done with all the name calling and tantrums, would any of the Jehovah’s Witnesses visiting this site care to answer the question?

And answers came there none - End of thread?

How can you read on this forum about the UN scandal, pediphilia, blood change, prophesy change......and not have your conscience affected? ANSWER: I CAN'T! What will I do with this information? I will continue to investigate, ask questions, find answers as many on this board have done and are still doing. Growth happens with knowledge! Everyday, new ones are welcomed on to this forum. WELCOMED!!! No answers are "EXPECTED", as if it were a Sunday WT study. I haven't seen a seperation where ones are expected to enter a line when they have reached a new level of understanding! The intelligence comes through from the ones with intelligence, those with arrogance come across as DOGMATIC whether they be a hardcore APOSTATE or a TROLL on a mission.

By the way....a thread ends when it ends.

To some of you: Why is it so "horrible" for "lurkers", "trolls" to read on this forum? Yes, of course, some of them are brainwashed beyond hope (like Defd and Scholar), and like to argue with us, but so what? They have actually never won an argument! How could they, there is no logic in their beliefs. As for the other lurkers, they are on the right path! Remember: JW-ism is a disease, an illness! Personally I couldn`t give a rats ass if an adult wants to remain a JW, what consenting adults do, is none of my business. The point here is, that JW-childhood is horrible! - and seriosly damaging to your mental health and your adulthood! So if JW-lurkers/trolls read around on these pages, maybe, just maybe, they start investigating things further, maybe they will leave the cult, restoring hope for a normal life for their children! That in itself is reason enough why you should leave these lurkers/trolls (unless they`re only here to preach, argue, send pms etc) alone!
