Bill, I am asked if the news release and accompanying material is available in Adobe Acrobat PDF file format. Apparently there is some difficulty in downloading from some parts of the globe; I'll try to find out what it is.

In the recopy there is a marvelous Freudian slip. Can you spot it, dear reader?

: WHEREFORE, Plaintiffs demand judgment for compensatory and punitive damages against each of the Defendants, individually, jointly and severely in an amount in an amount within the jurisdiction of this Court.

    Maximus,

Re: the Freudian slip ... statement should read "severally", but does read "severely". Frankly, I think the idea of a severe judgment in this instance is quite appropriate.

    Cheers,

I think the WTS strategy is already in place -- they will attempt to take the high ground while leaving the local elders high and dry. They will trot out their recent quotes where they say they 'absolutely do not prevent anyone from going to the authorities' (ignoring the old standard), and any elders who still do things the old way will be accused by the Society of doing their own thing, not up to WTS standards (current standards).

It will be just like when some corporation has done something awful that threatens consumer's health. By the time the reporters show up, the PR spokesperson will be able to say, "We have already taken steps to ensure this never happens again."

RW, sure would love to jaw with you. One of these days ...

Good a time as any to share something. Of nearly 30 elders who are writing me, well over half are planning to attend their upcoming schools in November and December--and then quit no matter whether there are changes in abuse and blood policies.

Not one is angry; sadness tinges their notes. ALL are disturbed about the tenor of things internally, most are very pessimistic about things being turned around, especially in view of the inconsistent messages they have been getting. Not a meaningful sample, owing to the nature of the board, but it sure sends me a clear message. Not just child abuse or CBA, or blood--the malaise is almost palpable.

I too would love to be in certain offices these days ... Big doings afoot?

As to champions, we all appreciate kind comments. I'm just doing what I've attempted to do for a very long time. Bill is in a league by himself, and is indeed a hero.

PS to RW: Just learned that Yakki Da means Cheers. I always thought it meant, "May the bird of paradise fly up your nose."

    HOORAY!!!

This is excellent news, indeed! Like you said Anchor, I'd love to be a fly on the wall at HQ. LOL!

    Max,

The ruling ecclesiastical class of JWs has sown the wind; it is about to reap the whirlwind. Batten down the hatches, Brooklyn!

That gave me chills. They will soon get their comeuppance.
